I mean, the offensive ineptitude is pretty surprising, but I'll have a jab at explaining it:
1) Bautista is an all-or-nothing hitter, in terms of his approach. He has a really, really long swing, to generate huge bat speed. The downside of this is that when his hands lose a bit of quickness with age, his contact rate will drop off a cliff. That's what we're seeing this year.
2) Encarnacion's just in a garden-variety slump, he's not as bad as he is now. But we shouldn't expect him to keep being a .900 OPS hitter forever.
3) Martin played over his head the past two years. Again, he's not a high contact-rate guy, and thus probably won't age too well at any rate.
4) Goins is shit. Always has been, always will be.

They shouldn't be "thinking about trading Mike Trout," they should be actively planning to because they literally will not contend with him on their team.
They're actually at a bit of a disadvantage c.f. an ordinary team trying to rebuild, because it is a lot harder to get fair value for a player like Trout than for a combination of lesser players. Few teams want to tie up so much of their value in one player.
On top of that, even if they move Trout for a fair return (or something close to a fair return), they're still fucked by the Hamilton and Pujols contracts and they have literally no one else of value to move (what, Joe Smith?).
I would literally rather be a fan of any other team atm.
