C-congrats on tying for 1st.

This team is fucking too wildly inconsistent sometimes.

We can put up tremendous fights against you guys and then pad our stats against the Barves, but then choke against the White Sox. Q is great, but I expected more than 1 run with our Offense tonight.

Shame really. It just sucks because I know we're getting swept now. No fucking way in hell are Buttholez or Owens going to get us a win.

mark my words, this season has the making for a deep cardinals playoff run. the cards NEVER win the series those seasons where they win like 100 games, its always the ones where they just scrape into the playoffs and then get really hot. If this team can get into the playoffs and wainwright and the rest of the pitching staff pitches half as good as last year, watch out, because we actually have offense now.

tbqh with you Joe I don't think it's all that much of a fluke.

I like the White Sox bros (although these general ones seem to be...different than normal ones)

But they look like a different team, playing ball effectively and aggressively.

Obviously they won't sustain the like .800 ball that they're playing, but I could see them winning the division or contending for a WC at worst unless they utterly collapse. But the vibe is too strong for them for that to happen it looks to me.

This is the guy that gave up 8 runs in the 8th, right?
Or i he the manager/catcher that argued with the umps rather than talking to his pitcher?
Or is he the shortstop that muffed an easy double play to end the inning?
Or is he the outfielder that bitched and moaned about a fan messing him up, and then admitted he wouldn't have made the play, and then retracted the statement?
Or is he the entire MLB squad that choked on a fresh game 7?

He's not? He's a fan that reached slightly over the railing to catch a foul ball, which is something everyone around him did, and is also something Cubs fans STILL DO, and then got ran out of town with death threats over it?

Give me a fucking break. Wrigley Field is better off as a concentration camp. Yes I'm mad. I should be, as a decent human being, for that disgrace to the game of baseball.

Pretty much all of Chicago are sympathetic towards Steve Bartman. There have even been fan petitions to have a Steve Bartman day at Wrigley which Steve politely declined.
>>
I think this is a fine opportunity to remind the freshly minted Cubs fans for life that Steve Bartman did nothing wrong and the Cubs will not sniff a championship for another century. Better get to bandwagoning another team before Soler and Baez have career-ending injuries and Arrieta and Bryant get busted for PEDs :^)

South Side curse: one of the worst corruption cases in baseball history
North Side curse: furfag Cub fan wanted to bring his goat into the stadium so he could finger it while watching his team lose, the team didn't let him because they used it as a scapegoat for why their stadium smelled so bad (71 years and it still smells like a goat), so he sprinkled fairy dust on them and they haven't won since

Guys, Jake here.

Just got my latest shipment of Pilatesâ„¢ in the mail. Came in a small package, express ordered from Germany.

The Pilates Injectorâ„¢ I had recently just broke, so I'm going to skip a rotation day this week so I don't mess up my fung-schway (it's a little term we in the pilates community like to say, it basically means balance, just an fyi)

I can't WAIT to try these Pilateâ„¢ out. The Manufacturer has been pretty famous for a while now. Since like the Olympics if I remember correctly, with some Track Runners.

Anyways, peace bros. Gotta go meet up with my bros Chris and Dee, we're having a joint Pilates session together.

XOXO -Jake

But the league can't really "force" lower leagues, even up to little league, to stop that, can they?
Personally, I think it's the other way around re: "strength" of someone's arm or getting too much rest; if you're an ace pitcher with aspirations of making the MLB, coaches are going to overwork the shit out of you as a teenager in normal and travel leagues when your body is still growing and you're constantly "working" it in unnatural motions and exercises. Not to mention you become the final option, regardless of condition, in tight or overlong games.
Look at Pedro Martinez. He had the two GOAT pitching seasons as the only competent guy on staff, and was even called on to pitch six relief innings in game 5 in 1999. He was arguably even better the next year despite the rest of the team, then in 2001, BAM, his shoulder gets fucked up. Our idiot manager Jimy Williams and GM Dan Duquette couldn't decide whether to put him on the DL or not, and so he spent about two thirds of a season worsening an injury and showing it on the mound before he finally gets shut down in August when the season's lost. His shoulder was never the same despite a few more good years with the sox and mets. Being injured in the 2006 postseason is probably a big factor in the mets losing to the cardinals too.

He's a meme pitcher who's fucking ass in the postseason. Not to mention he's been in the AL so that probably fucked up his hitting for good.

Stripling might be better atm

How can you justify this?

Just wait when our farm system kicks the living crap out of your meme teams in the near future.

Besides, our rotation when healthy is the best in baseball. And our offense is the best in the NL West this year. Grandal is an All Star catcher guaranteed, Joc's in full rebound mode, Utley is playing much younger than his age, A-Gon is still A-Gon, Kike is still the best utilityman in baseball, Turner is still proving all you memelords wrong, Thompson and Seager are looking like future stars. Now if Puig can get his shit up, the Dodgers are by and large the best team in the National League.

You can't prove me wrong, your team is probably too meme to surpass us in the future.

Since the beginning of 2015, Jake Arrieta has been the better pitcher. Is this true?

We, as fans tend to look at a more recent history, than a longer one. It is why a Phillies, or White Sox fan has much enthusiasm, while a Dodgers, or Nationals fan has less, despite the latter two being better for longer

Except that there is a difference that we realistic/pessimists still do go to the games and support the team no matter how doom and gloom we are.

Hell I was at the park when THIS happened. Had a perfect view of it from my left field seats and I can still feel how hard I had my head buried in my hands as a result.

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-league-stew/ian-kinsler-gets-inside-park-home-run-ball-084811968.html

It sucked hard cause it was also a Sale game and he had already given up 2 2 run homers.

Just one of the many many soul crushing games I've been to over the years adding to the pessimism.
>>
>>67341146
If you go to games you are an exception to the rule. Pessimists tend to be the ones who don't go to games. I've heard way too many Sox fans say things like "im not showing up until they put a quality product on the field."

How many games do you go to per year? I average about 10.
>>
>>67341146
That was also the 99 loss season. I went to game after horrible game and for those I didn't go to I listened to and watched when they were on TV.

Its around 10-15 for me. It sucks that I don't have any friends into baseball though back then. In fact,

[blog]
On my 20th birthday I decided to have a bday celebration at the cell. I invited my friends many of which didn't really know about baseball to begin with but I wanted to try to get some in. Sox vs Angels Danks starting. We had to wait for some friends and ended up a little bit late. We were on the gate 3 escalator up when I saw it was already 5-0 Angels in the first. Thanks danks. Afterwards we sat through more runs and a pretty crappy offense who tried to fight back but couldn't. Ultimately they lost 9-5, (woulda been 9-4 if not for a random meaningless Wise HR in the 9th) and my friends never cared for baseball ever again after that which is a shame since clearly since then, I've continued to be a diehard to the best of my ability. That is to say, I don't have season tickets but still live breathe and die with the team.
>>
>>67341294
It's not about the duration or recency. It's that that lineup lost 99 games being one of the worst team's in the MLB but I still watched them and remembered each of them. That's the actual point.
>>
>>67341311

Sounds like they really couldn't be fucked.

I try to catch a couple games in person when I am able to myself. I hope to attend more games now that I'm in a slightly better financial situation. Last game I went to was Eaton's walkoff HR in extras. However, I watch/listen every Sox game on TV/radio.
>>
>>67341347
>Named Adam

>"im not showing up until they put a quality product on the field."

A more than valid reason. Why would I pay to watch a team that isn't good, has no real bright spots, and no visible future? Give me a reason to watch the 2016 Braves
>>
>>67341347
He was their only consistently above average hitter last year. Putting him in right gives him more opportunities to throw guys out. Of his league leading 2.0 WAR, 0.7 is from fielding (that's really good) because he has a staggering 13 defensive runs prevented.
>>
>>67341383

>>
>>67341495
You would actually pay money to go watch your team get btfo on a daily basis? Why not just watch it on TV? There has to be some incentive for ownership to produce a better team.
>>
>>67341065
So Chavez Socialism saved the White Sox in 2005.
>>
>>67341511
Funny because I still remember being surrounded by them in my early days posting in gamethreads here back in like 2009-2010. I remembered when they always lamenting the forever 81-81 thing. If /sp/ had flags back then, I'm sure I would have been the only American one in Jays/White Sox threads.

Hell I even remember times when it was just me and GMT in Royals threads back when both our teams were disappointments.
>>
>>67341511
>See: Blue Jays """""fans""""" (although there really -were- none of them)

truly great times

luckily they'll be gone when they realize you can't just have a good offense with meme pitching
>>
>>67341570
But that's not why they're losing. If you actually watched a single game you would realize this.
>>
>>67341520
TV still gives them ad revenue. Watching on an illegal stream is the way to go still root for a team but protest the team. Note the difference between "a" and "the".
>>
>>67341520
I don't like to judge why people don't go to games, but I mostly go for the atmosphere. I don't really have an issue seeing a bad team.
>>
Reminder that bragging about how good of a """fan""" you are because your team is shittier than another team is just as bad as SJWs bragging about how oppressed they are as if it makes them worth more than a straight white male.
>>
>>67341627
>you can't root for shitty/mediocre teams
>you can't root for good/great teams
>>
>>67341603
There's a difference between being 5 to 10 games under 500 and barely winning 60 games. If I were a braves fan I might go to a game or 2, but I would much rather just watch it in the comfort of my own home.
>>
>>67341627
It seems like they're just trying to hold back the bandwagon by trying to prove how long they've been around (this is completely futile)

If not, what you said 100%
>>
>>67341648
you can root for either. just don't flaunt your superiority every ten seconds because your favorite team hasn't won in your lifetime
>>
>>67341654
Actually in my case, I know the bandwagon will come, I'm scared of it yes but nothing I can do. The real reason I'm proving so hard that I was a fan during those bleak years was simply to justify why I'm so dour even when my team is 19-8.

Retarded logic that allows futile teams to remain futile forever. If a team could sell out every night while being an awful team for years, why would they even bother trying to make a good team?

Going to games is not the only way to show support. I get what you're saying but in the braves situation I can totally empathize why they would be reluctant to go to many games.

Am I foolish enough to expect the rotation to stay at 4th in the AL? Fuck no. But I also don't expect them to drop to 15th either.

Point is that the guy i responded to said teams wont bother to pursue talent if they sell out games even when they suck. The Cubs prove that wrong.

Im not a cubs fan so your comments dont bother me. Pay attention to the conversation or leave faggot.
