Yeah the way it came back up to the racing surface kinda disturbed me a little bit.
>>67231149
no, you're not. that's one of the scariest parts to me at times. never sure if they'll get out on their own accord.
I've seen some deaths but mostly they get out. It still doesn't help.
>>67231149
I'm bothered by how cars don't slow down much. At least with grass the angle of impact changes, but on asphalt you're just going in head-on.

>>67232880
I like it when there's a big one on the last half of the last lap and it ends up with a really unlikely
It's pretty obvious that lelgano can't lead a pack with that damage

>>67234003
I believe they made the rule during the tandem draft years, but then they fixed the draft and kept the rule for no reason.
Sadler, the absolute madman.
They give the win to Sadler? Damn, that sucks for Poole.
This is stupid. They should race to the line if there's a wreck on the front stretch.
The race was good until the second to last caution, then it was muh debris shitty caution to make things even more artificial, and when Logano got fucked, the underdog won and things were great - no, they decided to ref the fuck out of this race
what a garbate marshalling
>>67233994
seriously Dale's death lit a fire under nascar's ass about safety (which had been under fire for years: John Nemecheck, Adam Petty). I might be wrong but I don't think there's been a death in any nascar sanctioned race since. At least not in any of the big 3 series. >Cryle did get pretty fucked up in that daytona wreck last year but he came back to win the championship.
POOLES CLOSED AHAHAHAHAH
Did they really give the win to Sadler? I switched to the hockey game.
Poole is probably crying right now.
Did Sadler win because he was in the lead when the caution was called during overtime?
>>67234051
WHY fucking throw a caution less than 500 feet from the S/F?
>>67234196
Yep.
>>67234161

You need to watch the replay. It's impossible to explain because it does not make any sense.
>>67234161
it's on nascar.com
>>67234196
Yes, he passed the spinning Logano, the caution came out, then he got passed by Poole and a few others before they crossed the finish line.
>>67234167
Wouldn't blame him. Pretty gay move by refcar.
THIS CRAP IS WHY NO ONE WATCHES THIS SERIES, NASCAR. JUST END IT ALREADY. SAVE EVERYONE'S TIME AND MONEY.
>complaining about this finish
This is nothing compared to the shitstorm that was the 2002 Indy 500
IF YOU ARE INVOLVED IN A WRECK YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO GO TO THE TAIL END OF THE LONGEST LINE. WAY TO STICK TO YOUR OWN RULES YOU FUCKING CORPORATE ASSFUCKS.
>>67234334
wut?
If you don't freeze the field at the caution then you have the 30th place guy going wide open through the middle of a wreck racing the 29th place car back to the checkered flag. That's especially dangerous in the Xfinity series.
I realize ppl wanna see these guys race to the finish, but when there's a wreck in front of you drivers reaction should be to slow down...which Koch really didn't do.
That's the big diff between Cup and lower series...Cup guys understand the freezing of the field at the caution and get their cars slowed down right away. Lower series drivers try to go all Days of Thunder through that shit and it's dangerous as fuck.
>>67234406
>hey guys, watch me defend the pussyfication of this "sport"
Dustin Long
@dustinlong
#NASCAR … Brennan Poole on the officials making the call for Elliott Sadler as winner: "Glad that they were able to get it right.''
>>67234406
lol this would've happened in sprint cup as well, no one's looking at those caution lights when the line is like 500 feet away. no reason they couldn't wait to throw the caution until the leaders crossed the line. hell it did nothing anyway, people were still wrecking even after they crossed the line.
>>67234117
I think Tony Roper died after that and it was the last one.

THIS IS WHY NO ONE WATCHES ANYMORE, NASCAR
THIS IS WHY YOUR STANDS ARE HALF-EMPTY EVERY WEEK
THIS IS WHY TRACKS LIKE CHARLOTTE ARE TAKING OUT SEATS
at Dega even, they are talking about tearing down the backstretch seats, because they never fucking sell out anymore
charrlotte is tearing down the turn 2 grandstands because they never sell anymore
NASCAR is dying, all motorsports are dying, no, your typical fatfuck american wants a self-driving car because "it's more convinent, i can take a nap or read the paper while it takes me places"

So are people mad at the rule that freezes the field at the caution, or are they mad that NASCAR actually followed their own rules? The ending went exactly the way it was supposed to go. If NASCAR would just consistently follow their own rules I'd be happy.
>>67234955
people are mad because they threw a caution(which no driver actually heeded) 500 feet from the finish line, essentially deciding the race for them instead of waiting for the leaders to cross the line.
>>67234955
Mad that the caution was thrown when/where it was.
LADIES & GENTLEMEN, YOUR 2016 SPARKS ENERGY 300 WINNING MOMENT
why can't they just call the races the "Talladega 300" i understand this is the Gp2 of NASCAR, but my god, why do they need to slap a company on it?
why not just the "Xfinity Talladega Grand Prix"
>>67235577
Someone has to pay the bills.
>>67235577
As you can see, the whole series is a marketing memery
What baffles me is why they still use names like "Turn 1" or "Turn 4" when they can hold sponsors' names for the current race
The same goes for the "yellow line", which could become the red, or pink line as a result of sponsor's pressure
Also "pit lane", "infield" and "catchfence" are all blank names, ready to be filled with sponsor names.
Imagine, The M&M's car exits The Coca-Cola Turn and narrowly misses the Viagra Commitment Cone, making their Geico Pit Crew think he's into for the new Firestone Tires. The M&M's machine then jumps from under The KFC Red Line and passes The Shell car inches before the McDonald's Finish Line. The Burger King Grand Marshal waves them off with Xfinity Checkered Flag.
>>67235577
Goes towards the purse.
>>67235039
>>67235050
In the long run wouldn't you rather NASCAR not make exceptions to their rules tho? If that is the rule, and the field is frozen at the moment of caution for safety, then call it like that every single time. That way guys know there's no reason to hold it wide open into a wreck. Once NASCAR says eh it's close enough then we get back to that uncertainty of whether a caution should or shouldn't be thrown.
They stuck to their rule last year at Dega and it fucked over their most popular driver. Stick to it every time and I'm fine with it.
>>67236057
the problem has always been that they aren't consistent and don't always stick to their own rules. if this is how they want every situation like this end then they need to execute them all like that, but that usually doesn't happen.
if this is some new era where Nascar is going to enforce all their rules properly from now on then fine, but the other problem is that 95% of all the rule changes they've made since Brian France took over have been fucking stupid, so consistently enforcing their own rules doesn't help anything if the rules themselves are fucking dumb.
>>67235764
I like you, Poland.
>>67236325
But NASCAR has been consistent in making the racing so much safer than it ever has been. For all the shit we can bitch about, that isn't one of them.
Someone wrecks they throw the caution and freeze the field. It is a safety issue and one that they're just recently committed to religiously follow. The newly formed drivers council had a bit say in that, I'm sure.
So it doesn't matter if they're coming to the checkered flag or on lap 25, if someone wrecks you can back it off and know that you're not losing spots since the field is froze.
I'm not sure that it woulda helped Logano not get crushed today, but Koch was still wide open going into him and that's stupid.
It sucked for this race but it's a very good rule that I'm glad NASCAR is following.
Holy motherfucking shit man

Don't worry, NASCAR corporate is taking care of business and will grow the sport by doing shit like their:
Celebrating women in NASCAR month.
Or their NASCAR "green" campaign.
And, of course, their NASCAR "diversity" campaign.
Never fear, race fans, NASCAR corporate is on it!
>>67236521
>safety
Nascar, and auto racing in general frankly, got popular because of the inherent danger involved. It sounds bad, but making all these changes for the sake of "safety" just makes the final product boring and lifeless.
Auto racing in it's purest form is and SHOULD be dangerous. Without that it's just a parade of cars driving fast, and I can just sit out on my front porch and see something slower but close enough and sometimes more entertaining than that.
