The problem with sports stadiums is that the vast majority have been built after the beginning of the 20th century when function over form has been emphasised in almost all degrees of high budget architecture.
Almost all traditional venues have had some kind of modernisation involved also to keep up with growing spectator and health and safety legislative demands also which diminished the uniformed feel previous iterations could have had.

Selhurst park is an awful shed, it was never built as a decent stadium in the first place and it's so old and decrepit now.
The player areas are some shack accessed through one of the corners that appear to actually be on par with or slightly worse than my local 9th division side.
The roof leaks and the place just feels like it's going to collapse.
It was a toss-up between this shithole or Goodison Park with its wooden seats that have views of 3 pillars, dreadful facilities and a 'new' bit that's actually complete shite and uncomfortable to sit in but Selhurst is just too crap.

Since the team started playing decently this year (shit season until early 2016), there's usually 50/55,000 people per match.
But I think it's mostly because everyone wants to see the new stadium, we'll see how it fills up in a year or two.
Our previous stadium had about 40,000 seats, but wasn't filled up often (and seats were cheaper then).
