The real difference between the panthers and flames is that Luongo is consistently great and Hiller has good and terrible years. They both have a good puck moving d-core and their forwards have real talent and 2way players, I'd even say that the flames have more high end skill then the Panthers. You can't really say he's not elite, at least not yet. At 21 years old he is getting 20+min a game and putting up decent to good stats. Only time will tell if he reaches the elite status. Doughty, Keith, Seabrook, and every other great defender weren't studs at 21 either.

Yeah the Cats were a middle of the pack possession team most of the season, I won't deny that. I think all the top 3 PDO teams (kitties, >rags, caps) might have quick exits in the playoffs.
The kitkats have been playing more sustainable hockey since the trade deadline, though, after they sent some of their useless AHL bottom 6 players down and got Hudler and Purcell on the third line.

Gaudreau is obviously a real offensive game breaker right now than anyone else on either team and is also very structured in his own zone and can steal the puck effectively. Monahan has similar talent to Barkov, though Barkov gets the edge since he has a stronger, heavier body right now and can do get to the tough area's better.
Calgary's defense is obviously very talented with Giordano and Brodie. Comparing it to Florida's Giordano is much better in his own end than Campbell. While both Brodie and Ekblad are excellent puck movers with solid defense Ekblad has a much better shot and as a younger guy as well as a guy with more size and, more importantly, a larger wingspan than Brodie he has the potential to create a gap in the defensive zone as he gets older.

Cambell's a better skater than Giordano but his shot is worse so he's not as productive offensively and because of his age, build and style of play he's not as strong as Giordano is in front of the net and he's not as willing to get dirty and cross check a guy in front of the net so he's less effective defending as well.
Brodie is already a minute munching defenseman, logging 25 minutes a night, most on his team, while Ekblad still hasn't reached that point in his development and only plays 21 minutes a night. Brodie is a legit #1 defenseman right now
