Last year when I was visiting in September when the Sox(i usually plan my visit when the sox are there so i can see the sox play in a nice stadium rather than us cellular) were in town and they swept the Royals in a pointless series, we saw Johnny Cueto at Fogo de Chao in The Plaza. Fucker got bombed by the white sox but he was going HAM on some Parmesan Infused Pork. I know 50$ a plate seems steep, but if you fast all day and go there as a man on a mission, you can easily eat 50$ in fillet mignon alone. Lawrence is great, but it's a college town and you have to be aware of that if you come here to hang out. At certain points of the year downtown will be congested and full of annoying college twats, and there's definitely a thick hipster presence here, but once you get to know this town you know what to avoid and when. There's a great music scene, pretty good restaurants and craft beer from Free State Brewery, and good recreational stuff especially if you're into biking or disc golf. I'm 30 and live here and not really into the college vibe anymore, but I still easily find things to do, places to go and am able to meet like minded people around my age. Lawrence is the most progressive town in Kansas. I especially enjoy summer here because the majority of college kids leave and I can check out bars I tend to avoid during the school year.

Depends on what you are looking for. If you are interested in disc golf there are plenty of leagues to join, one is Beer League where you pretty much just drink and toss a disc all day. There's also a group in town that goes for runs together and pit stops at a bar (can't remember the name). Both groups are mostly mid to late 20s - 40 year olds, not a lot of young college students.
There are some gaming groups in town, notably one for Smash Bros if you play that. It is also made up of later 20 - 30 year olds.
Bars like Bourgeois Pig, Henrys or the Tap Room are good if you are looking for a chill environment and to possibly have intellectual conversations. However, keep in mind these bars attract heavy hipster types so they can be a mixed bag.
There's also a Reddit meetup group that is made up of mostly people our age, however I don't know how often they meetup because I've never attended any of the events. I know this is 4chan and people here claim to hate Reddit so I don't know what you would think about that.
If you're into board/card games you can check out Astro Kitty, Hometown Games or The Rolling Gnome. I don't know the age demographic for those places though, I stopped playing Magic years ago and I mainly just play board games with my close group of friends.
