Problem is, even when Ramsey was playing badly, you could see that he was TRYING to do certain things (but failing). Ox doesn't really seem to be showing any promise and he clearly has regressed.
I want to be proven wrong though; I'm not one of those to just say our own players are irredeemably shit, as it's surely best for our current players to develop instead of bringing in more players.

in addendum, i wanna point out that it doesn't help that arsene basically sees RW as the veritable LF (left field in baseball) of the starting XI.... in other words in baseball when you have a player who's terrible in the field/defense and you want to "hide" him at a position to minimize any potential butchery from his shit defense, you stick him in LF cuz the thought is that LF is the easiest/least-important defensive position for a guy who is shit out in the field.
now i'm not saying that RW is necessarily where you try to "hide" a bad player, but i think arsene sees it as the one position where you can play another player out of his best/natural position (CM, #10, striker) because arsene is definitely not afraid to go with a cazorla, ramsey, wilshere, or even welbeck/walcott/(ideally-CF) @ RW when he's got a proper #10/winger/striker situation.

Theo can do either, but against quality defenders it's harder. The main reason is not Theo himself, merely the fact that as soon as he's on, the opposition manager, assuming he isn't like Barca/Madrid/Etc will order the team to play deep.
This, however, means that Arsenal know what's going to happen and can play round it.
Arsenal don't have a problem breaking down deep defenders, Theo might not get a goal, but he's forced a tactical decision which good passers like Arsenal can exploit.
However, the times when Arsenal play shit are the following:
When they're pressed.
Watch the Newcastle game, watch the West Ham game, watch the Saints game. They pressed, they don't let players settle on the ball and only Ozil and Giroud are any good at passing while under pressure. Wilshere is OK but isn't back. Carzola is too small. Ramsey isn't good enough atm.
Just like Pirlo, Arsenal don't like being pressed. If you defend deep, you'll be picked apart unless you've got insane defenders.
