Well, NFL titles still count. But once the Superbowl became the main championship it got downgraded. It is now the NFC Championship. So pre-66 NFL/AFL titles are still relevant as Championships even after the point they got replaced by a new one.
Arbitrarily saying your championship is invalid because of the time past is a bad argument (I've seen some saying that SB5 forward only all the way to only last year counting). You can say that Super Bowls are the only thing that matters now, because it is the main title now, but in the 1919-1965 time period football still existed and crowned league champions.
