Khan ran cunts down when they were nowhere near his box to clear. Effectively he was at the most, the best, and at the very lest top 3 sweeper keepers of his generation.
Neuer essentially took up the Khan mantel and did everything he did, but is doing it better. In the sweeper keeper role that is.
Yeah he makes fuck all saves but it's his overall play where he deserves credit. Remember the last euros? Losing to Italy, running up to the half way line doing diving headers to send the ball back in the box?
But staying on topic, Khan and Buffon were two totally different style of keeper. In terms of shot stopper, yeah Buffon no question but Khan had more command over his area. It's tit for tat really.

I just love Buffon. He has a bit more grace than Kahn. They both had the grittyness and leadership ability though. But Kahn was a bit too intense. A bit too bitter, what Suarez has sometimes too. Buffon however is always composed.

The fact that people are considering that Kahn was better than Buffon is a good indication that he truly was better. Buffon was playing in what was once considered the best league in europe during his prime so he was bound to be highly rated or even overrated. Kahn had stayed in the Bundes his whole career and didn't get as much attention as Buffon did.
It's the same situation with Neuer nowadays. If he played for Real or Barca we would all consider him to be the best GK without a doubt but because he plays in the Bundes there will always be doubters.
