I tried not to look at the records in deciding who to pull for but meeting App St fans really won me over. They really turned out and seemed right at home in their RVs in downtown Montgomery (if you've ever seen it, it's a dying city). But seriously, they were passionate fans and I'm very happy for them. I've been to NOLA 3 times in the past year or so and it's a wonderful place. Most of the French Quarter was actually not very heavily damaged so it looks pretty much normal. The decline of Detroit really started with the mass exodus of white people from the city in the 60's. It was certainly a big upset, but people tend to forget that that Michigan team was only #5 based on preseason rankings, and got destroyed by Oregon the next week.
