People wanted to believe that the helmets would prevent the brain damage boxers received. Even though there have been some new helmet designs, neither the NFL or the players wanted them.
It's partially the players' fault for choosing to play knowing the risks and partly the NFL's fault for not disclosing all potential injuries. Probably 70-30, respectively, from this idiot's opinion.

Elliott Pellman. Tagliabue's personal doctor, to this day, was top medical adviser for both the NFL and MLB (he was part of the steroid Congressional hearings). Except he had insanity caused by CTE which was caused from being repeatable hit in the head. And it's not a one off thing.If your family was killed by a person that went crazy from traumatic brain injury you'd want to reduce them too.
