I think that the O-Line is their most pressing concern at this point. They can't do anything with the little time they have Rivers on the field. Spend this year on the O-Line and pass defense, next year on D-Line and keeping offensive weapons up to date and they could be 9-7 or 10-6 easily during Rivers' next contract year.

So, that Ravens/Rams game last night. Both Keenum and Flacco took serious injuries and stood in and kept playing when they should have been taken out, Flacco with an exploded ACL and Keenum with a concussion.
The NFL apparently has people in the press-box to watch for injuries like that, especially signs of concussion, and who have the ability to blow the play dead if they see it, and Keenum especially was blatantly fucked up, in full view of the sidelines. There were so many people who could have blown that dead, and no one did. No coaches, no refs, no pressbox doctors, no one. They let the play continue even after he could barely stand up and couldn't even hold on to the ball.
So, in other words, while the league is fining players for promoting causes, players can go after one another in all-out line-brawls without so much as a flag, inter-team preseason practices devolve into brawls, and nearly a year of time and millions of dollars are spent on a practice K ball on the sidelines of a blowout (yes, I'm weaving that in there, a year on and it's still bullshit), this shit is hand-waved by the National Football League.
