After 8 days of darting action, we’re down to the final four at the Grand Slam. All the signs point to a Taylor v MVG final after both put in dominant displays in their quarter finals. Van Gerwen faces Michael Smith in today’s first semi final tie, Lard Lad having defeated Aidy Lewis last night with the kind of performance that shows he can compete with the best in the game if he maintains the right attitude. The second semi-final is the latest chapter in one of the great darting rivalries, as Barney meets Taylel. The Dutchman has returned to the top 16 after his strong showing this week, although over the longer format he has shown signs of running out of steam towards the end of the game, and it’s unlikely Philthy will be as generous as Mark Webster in leaving the door open for Barney to stumble over the finish line. A tight match between Barney and Taylor but once Philth opened the four leg lead, it was never going to be a positive outcome for the Dutchman. Some solace for the evening session is that Taylel's finishing was poor, as it has been for most of the year, with Barney actually checking out at 44% compared to the Stokie's 37%. It was the scoring that won the match though, with Phil averaging 100.84 to Raymond's 97.07.
In the earlier semifinal, it was "as you expect" from MVG, cruising to a 16-6 demolition of Blubber Boy where the Green Machine's lowest tournament average was recorded . . . 102.19. Yeah, that doesn't sound low, does it? Although he was never in touch once the score went 8-2, Smith yet again imploded at the start of a match by missing key doubles, which given his performance yesterday makes no sense. Will the fat shit ever get his head together? Who knows.

As for the tournament itself, it was pretty good.
