Before anything else, come up with the character you want to fuck as. Try not to make a boring character, make someone you think people would want to interact with, it doesn't have to just be sexually! You can also post your character here, there's a chance one of us will be interested.

I had an unfair advantage in that she too is an RPer (she just refuses to ERP), so I had less explaining to do. So my Santa profile kind of overloaded me to exhaustion in such a short amount of time. Never realized so many people had so many Santasies.
First time I posted my ad, one person, a hub profile for all sorts of detailed shit, responded and poofed pretty quickly into it with no explanation, just "I have to flee, I'm so sorry!". Second time, the floodgates opened. Five people instantly jumped on board and I had no idea how to handle it. One of them turned out perfectly and exactly what I hoped and more (though we had to postpone the rest til tomorrow), one was creepy as fuck and made me sick at the shit this person wanted me to do, one was a blank hub profile that poofed the second I asked for a picture of her character to work with, and the other two I had to basically give rainchecks to because I just couldn't handle setting up and maintaining all these RPs at once. Even two was difficult for me once it got narrowed down to it.

From personal experience, playing any variety of female will get you the most bites unsurprisingly, with shemales ranking in at second most and males very slightly above everything else.
The actual quality of those interested in you though fluctuates wildly, no matter what you do. Also actively poking people, even with an unpopular sort of character, is usually the quickest way to actually get good play instead of being a lazy fuck and posting ads in chat all day.

How do you host an ad?

Go to a channel where ads are allowed and which is relevant to what you want. Type up a general summary of what sort of play you're looking for in a way that's alluring, then hit the post ad button before waiting 10 minutes to do it again if nobody was interested the first time.
The biggest room for posting ads is Sex Driven LFRP, but the results you'll get from there will vary wildly. Some days you'll get gems, most of the time you'll get someone that's astoundingly average or sub-par but that's life. I recommend just sitting in there for a while and trying to approach people on your own whose ads appealed to you if you want better results.

Well, I'm not the biggest on furries(Not that I mind them, they just don't usually do it for me), but looking at it objectively the way I'd look at anyone else, I'd say the sparse kink lists are a big pet peeve of mine. Not to mention an empty profile with nothing but an inline image tends to suggest to me that (No offense, I'm just speaking objectively here in how I view others) "Oh. Well. They're too lazy to make a decent profile, and that's their first impression on someone. If they are too lazy for that, they are too lazy to RP well."
I'd say the sparse kinks probably bother me more, though. Fair enough, though I think it's pretty obvious that it's a hub for monsters. If someone doesn't actually read anything on my profile, and thus, is confused by the images section, then needless to say we probably aren't gonna mesh very well. I'm pretty into detailed plays and stuff and that requires a certain level of attention to detail. The system is a bit odd(And as far as I know, entirely unique. I've never seen anyone else try it in the many years I've been playing), but it 110% works. Almost every 'bounty' I post has someone picking it up within the week that was too shy to approach me before hand, or it inspired people to make characters that they were on the fence about following through on.
With 167 bookmarks in the span of about 3 months, I'd say, as autismal as the profile is, it is a resounding success.
I guess the biggest thing to take away from it is to just do what you want, and be as upfront as possible about who you're looking for.

Main jist of it involved some realistic shady operation where the mall Santa was involved in some sex slave trade trade operation. It just got more fucked up and terrible as it went on. Was hesitant at first given the initial premise and player, and now I realize I should have trusted my instincts on that one. Mostly what movies and games tend to leave out which is the most traumatic aspect of death: Emotional pain and it's effects on empathy. People don't tend to die quickly IRL, and suffer through a multitude of 'phases' before they pass on. Initially there's shock, where someone is typically too stunned to quite understand what just happened to them; Pain is often suspended or significantly dulled at this stage; This is usually the point where people babble incoherently and are somewhat 'blind' to their surroundings even though they are looking about.
Then comes the 'realization' stage when they understand exactly what's happening, and panic and pain set in at full course. This is typically when folks expend their stamina and coherently speak to others until the trauma of their injuries brings them to their final stage.
In their 'death rattle', people can't really talk coherently. They wheeze, sputter, cry, and their breathing becomes longer and more pronounced as (1/2)

they struggle to maintain the basic faculties of 'living'. This is typically when stuff like loss of bowel control happens, And they generally become severely limited in motor skills. The most you'll get out of someone at this point is weak crying, usually muttering stuff like 'please' or 'mother' until they can no longer vocalize anything. Their eyes become glassy and their skin cool and pale as their injuries finally get the better of them and blood loss finishes them.
At least, this is death in it's more 'tame' faculties. I've seen much worse ways to go where it's 'faster', but intensely more brutal and painful. I think the worst I've seen is an MRAP where a bunch of the crew got stuck inside by a magnesium IED and the heat cooked them alive. You don't know nightmare fuel until you see people burn to death. The sights, sounds, emotions, and the god awful smell are things that just aren't really detailed in RP because people don't have 'source material' to go off of

Eh. I'm more or less aware of most of that, from the more visceral things that choose to play up "dying is messy". Not the real thing, but not the "one bullet instant dead" either. I like verisimilitude (which is not the same as realism) in my writing. Which, sidenote, is also why I'm always worried about giving characters severe injuries; I worry I'll forget it in the narration.
But I also tend to prefer snuff scenes where the actual death comes quick. Dying messily and in lingering pain is interesting in a movie, but not so much a lewd RP.
Also, if you actually are interested in RPing that, I've seen someone with a whole bunch of profiles dedicated to that. She's got a bunch of lolis for various settings and wants to die slowly and in agony while someone gropes her.

See, stuff like this is weird to hear you say (more so than shows where dying is messy and agonizing). I've seen a TON of shows that--probably because of Reservoir Dogs--mention how gut shots are excruciating and take days for you to die from.

I think my biggest pet peeve with ERPing in general are the flakers and people who pull disappearing acts in general.
I don't mind postponing an RP so one or both players can go to bed or take care of RL stuff, that's totally fine, shit happens. The problem is with people saying they have time to RP and taking care to set it up with you, then afking or randomly offlining not too far into it, and then not offering to continue afterward when they come back on. I've met so many people whose characters I really liked and meshed with, only to find out their players are complete assholes. If you don't want to play more, just say it. It's pretty rude to keep someone else waiting when you have no intention of continuing.
