Does anyone know about the engineering physics programs at Stanford and MIT? Is engineering physics a meme, or is it respected and legit? Is it the most difficult engineering major?
>>
> Is it a meme?
Yes, largely. There is no job that calls for the title "Engineering Physicist". This mitigates the main fucking advantage of becoming an engineer.

Being exclusive shouldn't be mistaken for being difficult.

Plenty of jobs call for the skillset it provides though. Most employers look for an engineering degree related to what their project is about. They won't go oh we were specifically looking for a BME when an EE also has signal processing down. Any employer that autistic you don't want to work for anyway.

There's an Engineering Physics program in Oxford afaik, and the way it works is you learn general stuff the first couple of years, and then you specialise to whatever you want, mech, aero, EE, ChemE etc.

It is the only program they have for engineers, so it definitely isn't a meme, at least in Oxford.

Want to shoot yourself in the foot before the race even starts?
Force your employer to research what the fuck "Engineering Physics" is, and what they're usually taught.

Tip: They're just going to hire the EE.

Just like in business, you don't want to have to educate the consumer. In the working world, you don't want to have to educate the employers. Against such fierce competition these years, why do something so weird?

Because of course it's so much fun dealing with a retarded employer. That's shooting yourself in the foot, though a few weeks in you'd probably want to shoot yourself in the face.

Employers love engineering because of the standardized / accredited framework it provides.

Engineering Physics and it's inane specializations / lack of direction is an affront to this.

Don't do EP.
If you want to do EP with a specialization in EE, just take EE.
If you want to do EP with a specialization in MecE, just take MecE.
If you want to do EP with a specialization in Aero, just take Aero.

You /really/ don't want to have to explain what EP is in the few interviews you actually do land (because you got binned from the rest for failing their resume scanner's education filter)

I've never heard "Wow, I love HR!" but it's the shit we have to deal with. Plan accordingly.

Shouldn't have taken Engineering Physics, probably.

Engineering Physics exists as a possible stepping stone to a PHD in a real field and literally nothing else.

It is about as useless, in general, as a double major or a minor in engineering.

Alright thanks for the input, guys, I think I'll probably just go for chemical then
>>
I'm doing a engineering physics degree, I'm in fourth year. You've destroyed my hope.

Should I commit suicide?

Why would you kill yourself? Just get a job and be happy. You can still get your masters in anything STEM
