Given that the universe is infinite in time, does that mean that anything that can happen has happened, and will happen?
>>
DUDE
>>
>>7997088
Nope.
>>
>>7997088
Yes, that's the definition of infinite.
>>
>>7997088
nope. but in fact the universe is just a combination of all possible perceptions happening. what you perceive as time is just your perception changing to another perception related to the one you just had.

The sequence 10110011100011110000... is infinite, but you'll never see the finite sequence 110010 in it

no, fuck off, it isn't

Z is infinite but it doesn't have every real or every number in Q

Open notepad.
Write a C program that declares an int and sets it to 0 and then does a while(true) loop that just keeps adding 1 to that integer
Compile the program (if you don't have a C compiler then you don't belong in this board and kill your fucking self)

Now think. You have written a really simple universe, with a very strict rule that basically says that your integer can only grow bigger.

Assume that you have a magical computer that will never run out of storage and that your int is a magical int with no fixed storage size either.

If you keep running your C program to infinity, will your integer ever point to -1? to -3? to -40?

The answer is no. There are rules that your universe has to follow and even though it will run forever, it will never go against those rules.

Now, kill yourself.

NIce. Another probably simpler analogy.

Give a 2 dimensional Cartesian plane. Draw any straight line through the origin. It does not pass through every point in the plane.

The same would hold true for anything higher dimension (x,y,z) with the time path being equivalent to the line chosen.

Learn some manners

OP's question is so fundamentally retarded that I don't give two shits about being polite to him.

There are so many interesting things to discuss about the nature of our universe, and logical consecuences of what we know right now, but when popsci faggots come with
>LE INFINUT UNIVERS LOL THERE IZ UNIVUR WER I FAQ UR MOM XDDDDD
it kills all the fun that we could potentially be having.

Fuck you too if you think that it is worth defending a moron.

enlighten us some nature of our universes mysteries , and logical consequences of what we know right now mr C compiler guy

lol ok
>>
>>7997640
Computer Science retards use shit like python, you have no idea what you are talking about.

C and C++ are almost exclusively used for scientific computation.

If you don't know how to code in C then you are not a scientist and please, kindly, kill yourself.

If the universe is infinite in time but finite in volume, the Poincare Recurrence Theorem implies that every that has ever occurred will occur again an infinite number of times.

>C

Pleb detected
>>
>>7997088

This is something I'd expect an 11 year old to ask, in all honesty.
>>
The most obvious counterexamples are

1,1,1,1,1,1....

(which one could argue is non-temporal)

1,0,1,0,1,0,...

especially

[0,1)

It should not require more than a minute or two of thought to realize that infinite time does not imply all possibilities realized.
>>
>>7997635
I agree with you >>7997510 is a fag of infinite proportions. Pun intended of course
>>
>>7997510

Sorry but you're the retard here.
OP doesn't only fuck your mother somewhere in the universe, every single person does. And it happens infinitely so.

>>7997227
>>
>>7997383
Quantum fluctuations can occur which can switch the value to a negative number.
>>
>>7997088
That's how I always saw it, but I could be wrong.
>>
>>7997088
yes
>>
>>7997088
Nope, consider a material with plastic properties. It can be broken, and permanently deformed. It cannot then be used to build a fully functional bridge.
>>
>>7998360

Huh?
>>
>>7998427
Exactly
>>
>>7997383
What are you talking about. OP said everything that CAN happen will happen ie within the laws of physics. Eventually you are going to get any integer you can think of so you just proved the OP right.
>>
>>7998431
>le deep answer
>>
>>7997088
>the universe is infinite in time
Said nobody ever

(except OP)
>>
>>7997088
Poincaré recurrence theorem can be applied to our Universe and you don't need infinite time for this

10^10^10^10^2.08 years will suffice
>>
>>7997510
Man go take a fucking nap or something, Christ. To be this strung up on something so trivial only reflects some gaping flaw in you that others have just as much right to be strung up on.
>>
>>7997650
>if you can't code, you're not a scientist

Alright
>>
>>7997221
omg if u 0+0+0... it wil neva chanheee
sooooo no its not infittavivity :3===D
>>
>>7997650
>kys kys kys kys
Ending every sentence with "Kill yourself".
Saying "Kill yourself" won't make them kill themselves, it's just very overused.
Kill yourself.

>>7999681
If you were smart then programming would be intuitive. If you were smart then you would know low level programming.
