Are there any orthopedic doctors that frequent here? Specifically spine specialists?
Friend of mine has a rareish case of double scoliosis where the back curves like an s but it also twists near the bottom and shoves her ribs into all of her internal organs. So far she can't get a straight answer out of any doctors/ specialists as to what she needs or she hears conflicting stories as to what would be best. This may not be the place for this but at the very least it's a pretty interesting science topic on spines/vertebrae manipulation.
I would think a harrington rod procedure would be best but there are some new spinal fusions procedures coming out that I'm not very knowledgeable about

Yeah i guess, but its frustrating that its supposedly their specialty but shes getting a different answer from each one or just no answer at all, and shes constantly in pain which sucks thank you for your wishes though

Welcome to medicine. Unfortunately doctors aren't all trained exactly the same and a lot of their prognostics come from personal experience or books which lack a lot of variables on either end which is why even second "opinions" can cause a lot of confusion. The best way to go about it is to independently research the procedures and weight benefit/cost and then proceed to search for the most experienced surgeons and doctors available for the particular procedure, otherwise you're simply asking for advice from someone who has no stakes in the outcome.

Treating scoliosis is inexact. She needs to read everything she can and come to her own conclusion. Depending on age, of course, parents should be involved.
Also, look up Schroth method as an option, depending on severity, decisions re surgery, etc.

That was unclear, sorry rushing. I mean, there is little agreement and various methods. Surgery can be very exact in what it achieves, but if and when and which surgery are complex decisions.
