I have a pizza that has been cut into 10 slices.
I'll divide those 10 slices among 5 people. Each person gets 2 slices of pizza.
[eqn]10/5=2[/eqn]
I'll divide those 10 slices among 0 people. Each person gets 0 slices of pizza.
[eqn]10/0=0[/eqn]

gj, here you go
>>7965170
10/0 = 0
<=> 10 = 0*0
sounds about right
>>7965170
>10/0=0
If that were true, then 0*0=10
[math]0*0=0[/math] obviously. I'm only saying that [math]10/0 is 0[/math] which is absolutely true when you consider my intuitive explanation of what is happening when you divide by zero in reality.
>>7965170
Dividing the pizza by 0 doesn't mean that each person gets 0 slices of pizza, but rather that nobody ever could get a slice at all. Therefore, the pizza wouldn't exist, but it does in your example, meaning that it contradicts itself, hence why you can't divide by zero.
What you're trying to do is explain math using common language, which is full of contradictions, wordplays, synonyms and so on.
>>7965170
10/0 = 0
10 = 0*0
not convinced desu
Holy shit someone contact Harvard, OP solved it !
>>7965170
But if you divide the pizza among 0 people, then what happens to the pizza?
>>7965238
Well according to OP >Each person gets 0 slices of pizza.
But in that scenario you can't really speak of dividing can you.
ok OP i tried to do this and ended up with infinite pizza
who wants some
>dividing elements of a field by their additive identity
You fucking what.

Haha.

[math]0*0 = x \epsilon \mathbb{R}[/math]
OP is a retard but why isn't there some kind of analogue of the imaginary unit for division by zero?
You could define q = [math]\dfrac{1}{0}[/math] and then every other number divided by zero would just be that number multiplied by q.
i extends the number system into two dimensions so couldn't this extend it into 3? Then every number in this new number system would just be a 3-tuple with the interpretation that (a, b, c) corresponds to a + bi + cq
>>7965184
Except you can't divide by zero in reality fuckface.
>>7965170
no there is an infinitesimal person that gets all ten slices :^)
it equals 10
>>7965319
They are different things anon.
Limits give a semi intuitive notion of what division by zero would be equal to: infinity.
And working with infinity is shit 99% of the time.
>>7965319
if c=0, what would happen to that third coordinate?
>>7965319
I mean, even if you could (not saying you can't, I just don't care to put thought into it), there is no practical reason to do so.
i imaginary unit was needed for good reason, this is q of yours on the other hand doesn't seem useful at all. If anything it would bring unnecessary definitions and trouble.

you guys are so dumb. i hope reddit servers go back up so you can crawl back.
