It's not really a thing here in the States. It's also generally done by PEs, not graduates. I work with plenty of PEs and pre-PEs and I've never seen one. I'm only gonna do it cuz I like to be in >muh secret club

I was talking to an engineer that works automotive in the states about a potential career, he said that in automotive especially they prefer guys without a PE since they're less likely to resist ethical violations.

That's kind of silly. Part of getting licensed is proving you actually know how to analyze ethical situations properly. Plus PEs put their seal on designs, so if anything fails, they bear a huge responsibility. PEs aren't going to risk that.

Exactly, he said the company pushes them to do unethical things and they want their employees to fall in line. A PE is more likely to protest.
