Is there any reason why you can't hypothetically have a screen of hexagonal pixals, even for all intents and purposes they're inferior?
Like a metal window screen? Manufacturing costs.
For all internets and purposes I don't see why not.

screen edge

Simpler.
>>7920770
So if you wanted to do it with hexagons it should be possible?

What the fuck is wrong with you?

why wouldnt it be?

lol just cuz

we could use circle pixels, but we would have gaps between them we xould even address them radially from the center.
to get rid of the gaps, yes, you could make hexagonal pixels and address them in the same way as squares. but you would have weird jagged edges on the monitor.
to mitigate the issue of jagged edges, you could use squares instead.
see, squares are an improvement.
Cheaper to print the mosfets in one line?

You could make one. Put RGB LEDs in a hex grid.

Dunning-Kruger is real
Why even use pixels?
>>7921064
What alternative could there be? Could the screen have one continuous led somehow?

this is wrong

Not only is it possible, it's been done before.

It makes the math (and thus graphical processing) easier, since the individual pixels are aligned along orthogonal axes and can simply be indexed as a 2D array (hexagonal pixels can too, but additional spatial transformations are involved).

Regular triangles and pentagons can self-tesselate too. All kinds of irregular polygons can tesselate.

Not practical for modern uses but still shows alternatives are possible.

You're just autistic, right?

I asked my mom and she said no.
sorry.
