what kind of youtube channels does /sci/ like?
well Numberphile is great to understand deep maths and I also enjoy MinutePhysics which provide me with advanced physic knowledge

Obligatory

Vsauce is good
You pretentious mathfags really do think it's going to all matter in the end....science>math trollfag or not just give the superiority complex a break....

Hey guys vsause here. I would like to talk to you about black holes. You see black holes can actually be used as euphemisms for asshole. Take your mums asshole for instance. It's gape reaches across the galaxies. Galaxies are actually a collection of a bunch of stars. Collection coming from Latin word collectūs meaning "to collect". You know what else is fun to collect? Stamps. Originated in England they actually were first used in France by Napoleon to order mail brides from Russia. In Russian empire there are these things called babushkas. They are dolls with many layers, each containing a smaller version of itself. According to a new study, the universe could also be made up of such layers. In one layer I could be cock juggling clown having a cock for a penis and you could be straight. But how do we define straight? What Is a line in mathematics? A line goes on forever. Forever is a wonderful concept which is difficult to graps with out tiny brains. According to new research from neuroscience your brain is actually finite. But accoriding to an ancient Greek philosopher. If you were to spank me, you could never actually do it, since your hadn has to travel hakf the way to my voluptuous bottom, and then a fourth and an eight, and so on. Speaking of Greece did you know that they had a steady decline in culture and economy for the past few thousands years, culminating in the poverty that they live in now. Did you know that povery actually originated in the ancient Mesopotamia? It was invented by the aristocracy to keep the man down and impose obedience. Aristocracy did a lot of weird shit. Such has proclaiming themselves to be gods in ancient Egypt and in doing some force themselves to mate with each other, since they couldn't mate with normies, in doing so inventing incest. Inventing was invented in England during the industrial age, and it gave birth to the computers which run on Quantum Mechanics. Quantum luctuations are what gave birth to black holes.
Spirit science is the best youtube channel for science desu

They are all trash.

3blue1brown, not too serious, always fun. Great production value
I will never understand why popsci channels are popular. Their behavior is totally disrespectful, they talk like they think their audience is filled with idiots and children. Secondly, they are so incomplete in their coverage that it doesn't work as introductory material, it's useless. We should discourage halfhearted learning, I don't understand the appeal of incomplete understanding
Kurzgesagt makes nice animated videos about physics and astronomy.

I just realized Dave Jones from EEVblog never stopped doing amp hour
why doesn't he shill his podcast more on his channel

E-penser, a french chanel.
He became quite popular amongst french youtubers and now he's trying to export himself.

>>7857829
You underestimate how little people are willing to learn. They're popular because they tell a story and give anecdotes. That's the only way you can get normal people to pay attention.
They're the most subbed science channels on yt for a reason.
>>7857650
I only watch dank vaporwave videos and MITOCW videos on youtube nowadays.

Neuro.tv
>>7857996
You don't get people to pay attention though, you get them to think they are informed, done.
I don't buy for a second that these popsci channels actually get people interested in science. At best it gets people interested in being "geeks"
>>7857762
>implying he isn't 90% philosophy
I unironically enjoy Numberphile and Periodic Videos. Yeah, it's pop-sci, but I get enough "serious science" every day anyway.
Applied Science is also pretty nice.
Does anyone know more chemistry-focused channels?
>>7857796
And as always, Thanks for watching.
>>7858691
>IQ of 150
I know a person (he was one of my classmates in high school) who has an IQ of 150 (he took an actual test and not some online shit). He thought really highly of himself, and he went to med school, where he failed anatomy in the first semester. He used to go to math competitions and was really good at it, and I was on the same level that he was on (I know this because we placed similarly on a lot of math competitions), and I'm not any more successful than him either, though our personalities differ a lot.
Point is that having an IQ of 150 won't automatically make you a genius, and it's not that rare either. James Grime seems really smart though and I really like his love for mathematics.

Should I kill myself?
If you literally watch anything other than recorded lectures and seminars you're a fucking popsci memer.
And no, Brady's channels don't count, they're dumbed down beyond belief that it amazes me that the professors he talks with agree to do so.

They're cucks but they say something interesting every once in a while
>>7858705
It really is totally harmless. It's not as if these people are preventing actual science from advancing. At worst, they get some people to think they are bright and love science, which shouldn't bother you unless you define yourself by the social status of getting an undergraduate engineering degree.

No it's legit personal experience.
Is there any good video lectures covering the second half of baby rudin?
David Metzler has some cool videos on differential forms and analysis not very rigorous but good. Also some fun and interesting stuff on big numbers and ordinals.
Harpreet Bedi does khan academy style videos, great lectures on field theory culminating in Galois theory. Also some algebraic geometry and algebraic topology. Only bad side is a strong indian accent.
>>7857796
>>7857796
And as per fucking usual, 4chan tries as hard as they can to go against the grain and be edgy hipsters.
"Oh youtube channel which promotes scientific thought and is easy for people new to science to understand?
Fuck that, only retards watch that, Im so good as science hey everyone look how smart I am"
Sure these channels might not be the most advanced, but you faggots constantly want people to accept
science into their lives, and then shoot down anyone trying to make it accessable. Kill yourselves.
Anyone else watch CrashCourse?
What does sci think of
Looking Glass Universe?
I know this thread is as old as the sun already but does anyone here watch David Butler's videos?
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLpH1IDQEoE8Q8842yVe-V8m7PN-R9rlwi
This series of videos right here provides so much more depth than any other physics videos I've watched that aren't full-course lectures. The video editing is pretty funny/corny though, but hey he's got passion.

Reminder that the most die hard "Popsci sucks!" posters are undergrads proud of the fact that they passed their introductory physics courses and somehow consider themselves closer to actual scientists than the youtube entertainers.
