How much should I limit my screen time to keep my eyes healthy? Should I eat carrots for healthier eyes, or something else?
Do night themes help my eyes? How important is the fact that my monitor is literally a Dynex TV? Roughly 2 ft by 1ft. I don't have a ruler on hand and it was a gift so I never got the exact measurements.

Just avert your gaze every half hour or so. Try not to sit in the dark

I started using f.lux a while back, don't know if it's really all that effective but I noticed way less blood-shot eyes since I started using it.

Also nearsightedness is negatively correlated to the time spent outside.
So spent some time going outside and looking at far away object to avoid fucking up your eyes. Look out of the window every half hour or so

You should cover up the windows in your house with cardboard to limit the amount of UV radiation because UV light is very dangerous to the eyes. Also, wear a welding mask while you drive to prevent eye damage from looking at cars that reflect the sun's UV light into your eyes. If you do these two things, then, to prevent eye strain while at your computer, just turn on a ceiling light beforehand.

I really don't understand these. What difference does it make sitting in the dark or not? Does the ceiling light wash away the PC light? Does light even work like that?

Turn down the backlight brightness a lot and use colour schemes similar to 4chan's tommorow.

Make sure you always have adequate surrounding lightning, your screen should never be the brightest thing in the room, nothing fucks up your eyes faster.

Size of your minitor doesn't really matter.

Stare at something other than your screen every now and then even if for only a few seconds.

Flux is pretty much garbage, if you're using it to stop your screen straining your eyes at night it was set too bright to begin with.

>Try not to sit in the dark
I hear this a lot but can anyone explain *why* it would be bad to look at a screen in a dark room?

What a load of old poo. Your mammies told you this when you were babbies - and now its REAL ?
A dim area around a screen is GOOD, you dont need a bright a bright light source distracting your focus. You adjust the brightness and contrast on the SCREEN to suit your individual requirements. Downlighters on desks to highlight your porn mags or whatever.

Looking at screens in any light dilates pupils and blink response slows, drying up the eyeballs. This is rtemporary and causes no harm.

Older people uave trouble becausr their colour contrast ability deteriorates.

Now dont sit too close to the television dear.
