Define "get through".

I rarely read all the chapters, usually only the ones I need for a class and then come back to the missing chapters months or even years later (which is actually better for retaining your knowledge of the field long term since you review more regularly).

Working through the core chapters properly -doing problems+annotations etc.- usually takes me 1-4 weeks depending on how much time I can dedicate to it. Roughly 1 week if I can dedicate at 6-12 hours per day.

If I'm really engaged by the content in a book I study compulsively from waking up to going to bed (sometimes I'll stay up the whole night) and I can't stop thinking about the subject. For example I completely finished my unis complex analysis book in a little over two weeks because it was filled with new and challenging concepts.

Computer science textbooks are especially easy for me and take usually between 1-2 weeks to study because they have relatively little challenging content.

Some books are nearly impossible for me though like I'm still trying to get past the first two chapters of an options and futures textbook I started 2 months ago.
