>interested in physics and astronomy
>math and physics have always been easy for me
>really want to get into a top 10 med school but also want to learn about the cosmos.
> don't know how to shape my college education

any suggestions as far as majors and minors goes?
>>
Have you ever considered independent learning?
Or is that too much for you?

I self taught trig if that means anything

if you are actually intelligent, med school isnt for you

it is a huge fucking grind, massive pain in the ass, intern time is spent constantly pulling 30+ hour shifts with no down time, be shit on, be peoples bitches, for years, and then you end up with a mediun pay of about 80k unless you are really fucking good and have a good specialization

there are so many better things you can do with your life

You have to make a decision, something this generation seems to struggle with so let me put it to you straight.

Do what you actually enjoy, dont think about 'what is the best career ladder' and 'how can i gets da monies'
Instead think about what will keep making you want to get up in the morning.

My friend had to pick between a Med Physics masters with a registrar internship or a job at a radio telescope.

He picked med phys and now he tries to save kids lives from cancer by giving them massive doses of radiation and most of them die. Hes now an alcoholic but he bought a really cool telescope for himself and spends every night using it.

Then what would you suggest?
>>

This. Medicine really isnt that great. Its a shitload of remembering things, if youre smart and have good intuition, go for something science or engineering. If you like physics, do that, but dont do a degree in astronomy - take a more general physics degree and put in some astronomy course here and there.

If you're in the US, you can do pre-med with a math or physics degree. Not sure that you would want to go to medical school though since it's a lot of grind.

Believe me I've thought about this extensively, I've read all about the brutal internships most of the highly specialized fields require. I also realize that if I were to go into one of my preferred fields I wouldn't even be practicing until I'm 34. Which is why I still want to have other options if I don't choose to pursue medicine.

what Majors and minors would you recommend for someone in my position?

I've thought about a double major but I'm not entirely sure that would be good for my GPA

good article. That gril is a qt 3.14

This guy is right

This, medicine is a glorified trade. If you are actually smart you should get into a real science.
>>
>falling for the medschool meme
>>
>>7739593
you mean

>high school math and physics have always been easy for me

no fucking shit. you think you're a clever cunt, don't you?

here's what's gonna happen to you

>enroll in state university
>start smoking weed everyday
>fail most of your classes
>or maybe you pass most of your classes in the first semester
>eitherway, by the end of your 2nd or 3rd year of a BS degree, you're gonna flunk out, or just quit, and either drop out, or do some other meme degree that caters to burnouts like yourself

then how am I supposed to acquire fuel units?
>>
>>7739593
Just do your undergrad in Physics, if you do well you have a MUCH better chance of getting into medschool than some cookie cutter premed even if they have a higher GPA than you.
>>
>>7739593
I don't really understand why you want to get into medicine?

>Hey I like all this really cool stuff I could get a job in, how can I learn it and then go into medicine?
>>
>>7739678
This is sort of what happened too me. I did really well in highschool by doing nothing, but in my first sem at uni I only passed.
So then I put my big boy pants on, and actually started trying as hard as I could and working as hard as I could.
>>
>>7739708
Is that really relevant?

>>7739710
Considering I've stated I want to shoot for a top 10 med school wouldn't it be safe to assume that I'm going to actually try in undergrad?
>>
>>7739712
My question is, why would you want to go into medicine in the first place? It would seem your passion else where.
>>
>>7739714
general interest in the human body and anatomical sciences.
>>
>>7739712
OP, I would seriously advise you to consider pursuing a different path than med school. If you believe you have the ability to get into a top 10 med school, then you have the ability to get into a top 5 grad school.

To answer your question however, it doesnt matter as long as you finish all the pre reqs and have a clear thread of interest throughout your undergrad - you need to do exracurriculars and be dedicated to them as well as excelling in your BCPM classes

Something you may have thought you loved so much can turn into a nightmare of failure after failure watching countless helpless children die because the technology, or you, weren't good enough. The only thing that gets you through life is the dope telescope you bought with your blood money to help fuel your ever loving passion of stars and healing aliens.

You can major in physics, no issue. We have people in our med class who majored in music.

That said, don't waste time double majoring. You literally need a fucking solid GPA, several leadership positions in clubs, 100s of volunteer hours, physician shadowing, undergraduate research (if possible, an authorship on something), a solid 37 MCAT score or better, and countless other "activities" to stand out for a top 10 school. Grades don't cut it anymore. You'll need a lot of your free time to build a REALLY good resume, because some of the richer shits have years of mission trips, orchestra practices, philanthropy, pre-elite sports, etc. all under their belts. There's a formula a lot of those schools look for, so you're probably better off padding your resume with a ridiculous amount of shit to make yourself look like a "leader" and "well-rounded" as opposed to a second major. Also, do yourself a favor and learn Spanish in school. It opens up a lot of doors, even when you're in.

TL;DR: Major doesn't matter, but may help you in the long run by decreasing the amount you have to study; stay in STEM. Don't waste your time with second majors. Pad pad pad pad your resume. Start now.

but what about law? (yea, I know, that's not science, but whatever.)
