Engineering major here. I hate factoring. Is there no hope for me?

Pic related?
>not using synthetic division
>not taking stimulants
What the fuck? I can do that in my head but not by the method prescribed. How in the fuck 13x->16x?
>>7701968
It's horrible, isn't it?
Do you have a better way?
Pic related only because i hate thumbing thru google image results for the same reason i hate factoring. No, not pic related.
>>7701531
Use remainder theorem
>>7701531
you'll rarely use it

You mean, to calculate expected unemployment payouts?

The only thing x can multiply by to get 16x^3 = 16x^2, 0x^2 = null and irrelevant, -1 times something = -3, that is 3
(16x^3 - 13x - 3)
So you have 16x^2 + y + 3
Times x - 1
So find -13x
The multiplication yields 3x already
So we need -16x, what times -1 = -16x since x has already been multiplied to 3 meaning x can't be used again in this very instance?
16x
Since you have -3 and -1 what times -1 = -3? 3
What value n do you need to multiply to get (x times n) = 16x^3? 16x^3/x
So since we have 3 already we know the value 3x is going to be somewhere in that equation because (x-1)((16x^3/x) + y + 3)
X times 3 = 3x now we need (-1(variable) + 3x = -13x
-1n = -16x
Divide by -1 yielding
n=16x
16x^2 + 16x + 3
On my phone shit is a nuisance sorry for disorganization
You fucking retards it's the exact same thing as long division integers except with base x

Explain how -13x got to -16x.

It's literally high school math

Tbh senpai, I did this in 7th grade, just use synthetic division
