Let's test your math /sci/

nope
>>7670956
Ann is just old enough to fuck.
>>7670967
93?
Ann is 12.
Mary is twice as old as Ann. The word "is" is key and the rest of the sentence is just there to fuck you up. I stopped reading after Ann. English is a terrible language.
>>7670984
Wrong.
It was annoying, but I have determined Ann is 18 years old. Consider 4 numbers: the current and past ages of Ann and Mary.
We are given the current age of Mary is 24.
The first part of the next statement, "Mary is twice as old as Ann was", tells you the past age of Ann is 12.
The final statement "Mary was as old as Ann is now" tells you the past age of Mary equals the current age of Ann.
You know that the difference between the current and past ages for both girls must be the same, as the same amount of time has gone by for each one. So we have the equation 24 - T = T - 12, which gives T = 6. So Ann is 18, and Mary was 18.
Q.E.D.
>>7670994
Whoops, misplaced my logics. I should have said that T=18 and that is Ann's age
>>7670988
This is stupid.
It's word salad. Ann is 12. Mary is 24.
94
>>7670984
>Mary is 24
>Mary is twice as old as Ann was, when Mary was as old as Ann is now.
>Ann was 12, when Mary was as old as Ann is now
12 doesn't fit, because then "Ann was 12, when Mary was as old as Ann is now", but Mary is 24
>>7671024
It's word salad after Ann. Ann is 12. Mary was as old as Ann is now, which is 12.
I think some kid made this problem and thought it was some Freemason edge riddle.
>>7670956
Ann is 18 right now.
Mary is 24 years old. Mary is twice as old (24=2(12)) as Ann was when Mary was as old as Ann is now. Ann is 18 now, so, 6 years ago, Mary was 18. If Ann is 18, then 6 years ago, Ann was 12. 12 = 12 is what we desire, so, 18 is the correct solution.
>>7671027
It's just the semantics of the sentence which trip people up. The mathematics involved is incredibly easy.
The keywords are "is" and "was", of course.
>>7671033
>word salad
That's not what this phrase means.
Every time I see you post this in yet another thread, I'm going to respond. You're easy to pick out.
>>7670956
why not just ask Ann how fucking old she is
this is why nobody likes math
>>7671035
This is why English composition and grammar is important for american based story maths. No one talks like that unless you end up in some hick or urban nest, by which you probably won't be deciphering engineering documentation for making prototype appliances.
Ann is 12.
>>7670956
m= 2m
24 = 2. 24
S= O
>>7670956
>math
KEK. the answer is 12, this is circular logic my sides~~~
>>7670956
Anne is 23
6×2=12
12+6=18
>12fags still popping up
>they're not checking their own answer
For the fags that think it's twelve, I simplified it for you:
>>7671009
>It's word salad. Ann is 12. Mary is 24.
>if I ignore most of the puzzle it's much easier to "solve"
>>7671044
>this is why nobody likes math
Why are you on the "science and math" board?
>>7671650
> I simplified it for you
If they bothered to check their own work, they'd know they were wrong, I doubt they'll bother to read your solution (even though it's correct).
M = 24
MO = A
AO = 12
A - AO = M - MO (same amount of time has passed for each, obviously)
A - 12 = 24 - A
2A = 36
A = 18
I feel you assholes just give bogus answers to make me doubt myself
fuck you and fuck this question

Nice grammar you stupid faggot:
"Ann was when..." The fuck kind of sentence structure is that? It doesnt mean anything.
>>7672059
The sentence is grammatically correct.
Mary now=24
Ann then=24/2=12
Mary then=Ann now=X
Mary now-Mary then=Ann now-Ann then
24-X=X-12
X=18
