Okay, but how do you even start to think about steering them, let alone program commands?

What are we but our memories. What if your memories were not your own. Have you been here before?

What are we but our memories. What if our memories were not our own. Have you been here before?

Some where in the back of your mind. You might have the faintest sensation, that you've seen all of this before.

Whose side are you on?

------That's it then, the prize is a new technology?

No, not new, but eternal.
What is built, shall be built again.

They are winning by the way. But I suppose no one will notice when it happens, sort of like no one notices an atom bomb being dropped.

This tech is too nano. It'll take a while to get from flagellum to protein folding.

It's all already been done before.

Let your imagination run rampant, imagine any capability, any paradoxes, any mind bending anything, and I can assure you that it's been done.

If you can imagine it, it can be done... and it has been done...
>>
>>7665252

Still. Remember mad cow disease?
>>
>>7665268
Yeah I remember the misfolding theory. That was pretty crazy. Don't remember what ever came of that.

We _are_ making good strides in mechanically reverse engineering the mechanics of protein folding. But understanding their interactions to such a complete degree that we could actually utilize such mechanics and perhaps even create our own is a slightly bigger problem. One day, though.

>>7665226
I used to think about, like, you aren't actively aware of your past all the time right? only when you remember it. so sometimes I think that my memories could change in between recalling them and I wouldn't even know the difference.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out how nano technology is going to be used.
Who wants to be "god"?

We're talking direct control of everyones minds and brains. Their memories, their feelings, their thoughts, their actions even what their senses and reason tell them is true or not. You will occupy their very souls, or come as close as you can if such a thing as a soul exists.

And with such powerful computers being developed, it won't be even close to impossible to monitor and control not just humans, but every living thing with a cortex.

actually it's already here. been here for awhile

but pretense and other nonsense dictates we have to warm the water gradually or the frogs will jump out

it's not the end of the world though, that happened about 3-4 years ago. still in the process of ending actually.

that little motor that runs on UV light at the back of it, make some of those, put them on the sides and have them run at a different light spectrum. maybe make the total molecule have a magnetic field so it orients itself with the earth's field.
>>
>>7664759
the goal isn't to control where they go yet anyway, the propeller on it basically just increases its rate of diffusion, so I imagine it could be used for drug delivery or oil spills or chemical reactions or something.
>>
>>7666726
>>7664759
>>7666726
OP here
It's useless trying to control the directions of these things because at that scale they're getting battered around by brownian motion.

This is basically a really cool chemistry exercise to demonstratw this sort of stuff is possible. To get control over them, we need to make bigger more complicated systems. Heck even drexler says 'nanobots' aren't really supposed to be nanoscale

Just fuel it off of micro nuclear reactions and you've got a grey goo scenario.
>>
>>7666895
>>7667209
Physics doesn't change.

To give an example of how much stuff gets battered by brownian motion at this scale, a 10 nm protein particle moves has a thermal velocity of 4 meter per second at 310 K. This nanosub is smaller than that. So it's gonna move around more

http://www.nanomedicine.com/NMI/3.2.1.htm

These things are tiny, so tiny there is not really much they can do. We need to make bigger systems to do cool stuff.
>>
>>7667230
How? How are you gonna fuel it off of micro nuclear reactions? Fission nuclear reactors require an amount of material close to the critical mass in order to work. Fusion doesn't work
>>
>>7667255
Not to mention nanomachinery(drexler and smalley) is radiation sensitive.
>>
>>7667251
I did hear about using magnetic fields to move them

aren't quarks popping in and out of existence in "empty space" and that is what gives space dimension or whatver.

once we figure out how to pull in more quarks form wherever they pop in and out of existence form we will be able to create things out of nothing, just like magic.

once humanity "beats the game" they will realize how much of a prison reality really is.
>>
>>7667491
Give an example of a device that breaks a physical law. Memedrive doesn't count.
>>
>>7667496
Pulling particles out of a vacuum requires energy.
>>
>>7667496
>quarks popping in and out of existence
Virtual particles are abstractions in a very ugly, messy, patchwork model. There's no experimental or observational basis for their actual existence.
>>
>>7667546
What about the Casimir effect?
>>
>>7667548
>Casimir effect
Consistent with the theory that uses virtual particles as an abstraction. But it's just a force between plates. Consistent with virtual particles, but not requiring them.
