Well, our factories in China that support our way of life have polluted the air there to over 50 times what's considered safe so once all the Chinese workers die off then the Global Collapse will occur. This happens less than nine years from now when the pollution reaches 100x's over safe levels(merely doubles from where it is now)

I could imagine it would be as a result of some combination of climatic and ecological changes to the surface of the planet, making it difficult or impossible for the biosphere to support the plants and animals we are accustomed to. Potentially infectious disease or mutation of normally benign bacteria into pathogenic varieties. But the dynastic cycle is a safe bet.
Probably some kind of pandemic.

something will roll around which requires us to leave earth to live (asteroid impact, global ebolapox pandemic, etc). We wont be ready to move even 0.01% of the human population. The survivors cant make it to nearest inhabitable planet before their supplies are exhausted. They die.
