Worth it if you really love teaching and/or are reasonably young and decent looking.
Fortunately, I'm both.
I teach at a small college and we don't exactly get the brightest students, but I receive great satisfaction from exposing their minds to new concepts and ideas. I like to think I'm making the world a little less ignorant every semester.
On the other hand, if you're reasonably good looking and personable, you can score some primo tail. Current gf is a former student, and I have a very beautiful and very eager pupil ready to fuck this week.
Pay isn't bad either.

Difficult to say; here in the US I wouldn't teach K-12 if they tripled my salary. High School kids are little shits, used to being spoon-fed the bare minimum to pass a standardized test. They get no respect from students or their parents.

I've lived all over the US. And my kids attended different schools in various states. Having said that, I generally agree. However it wasn't the case in Colorado or New England. Southern states yes.

I teach programming at a university and I really love the job but it doesn't make a lot of money. So besides teaching I also program for an income. Combining the two is pretty good I guess. You can always learn from your students as well and you will be faced with a lot more problems then you would ever encounter on your own. So the thing is it's also educational for a teacher as well it makes you more broad but also more specialised.

I am a phd student in France teaching training session in CS.
Overall it's a huge waste of time, student are nice but they don't work and don't understand anything. They are 20 and expect you to force them to work.
I'm teaching in high school in France to 15-18 yo kids, I'll quit at the end of the year.

I'm a "khôlleur" in a french "classe prépa" so I interrogate two groups of 3 students every week, about 18 yo. I also have some experience with tutoring high school kids.
The khôlle thing is a lot of fun but most of my students just don't know their lesson when they come to me and don't have a "can do attitude" (by that I mean that they often don't even try when they see something unfamiliar, like their brain shuts down..) so most of the time I end up doing all the work...
One-on-one tutoring is kind of the same thing, it's fun but if the student is not motivated, it can get boring very quickly.
And these are only with small groups. I don't even want to think about teaching groups of 20-30 students, that would be hell for sure.
Anyone here teach primary school? I like kids and think it could be fulfilling to have at least a small positive impact on children while they're still developing.

In the US there is a shortage in STEM teachers so you can pretty much walk into just about any interview and tell them you want 60K + benefits starting. My own experience

Besides playing some poltics it's pretty alright. It's nice that I get to teach honors/ AP classes and that the kids are interested and don't interrupt me every three seconds, like when I was a student teacher. Overall I think you get out what you put in. Of course there's always one or two kids every year you want to take out in the hallway and shoot but it's just the nature of the business.

I'm a pre-service teacher, I will hopefully finish at the end of 2017. I'm hoping to teach mathematics and science (physics). I'm also in Australia
I think it will be worth it in the end because I'm going to be doing mathematics at the end, I will eventually pursue a phd in mathematics or work towards helping others learn mathematics.
