How do you prepare yourself for exams? :^)
>>
I avoid courses with exams
>>
>>7730677
Read the course reading. Do practice problems.
>>
Depends on how much I struggled with the material throughout the semester.
Full review for anything with subpar regular exam scores, with a focus on the topics covered by those poor exams.
Something like Chem deserves a full review, whether you think you need it or not, but I honestly didn't have enough time for that this month. It had to take a hit for some math and physics review. I might have just barely gotten a rounded A in the course, if I had scored perfectly on that exam.
The last thing that you want to have rusty concepts for is Calc. You might be able to get by in Physics, but the exam grade won't be anything stellar.
>>7730680
Self-learner, or are you a grad student who gets those lovely "take home exams" that I've heard about?
>>
>>7730677
>-100000 monies

Feels good to not be american. Literally by the time I graduate I will have spent less than 2000 dollars.

Not only that but if this year I manage to be the top of the class the school will give me a monthly salary only to study.

Americans, you are a joke.
>>
>>7730709
Except you have insane taxes so in the long run you lose just as much money over time
>>
>>7730715
Where do you get this from? I'm not in Europe by the way.
>>
>>7730709
Kek. Depends. Even I do have debt while studying in the greatest country of EU. Germany.
We got basically no student fees except 100 - 300 Euro รก semester (train ticket, ...).
Still, I got about few thousands in debt (around 6k) for living expenses and rent. It really depends on many factors. But well, different things for different people.
>>
>>7730722
I literally pay $0.25 bucks a semester here and no crazy taxes (you can pay more, of course, and it goes through as a donation to the university)
>>
>>7730709
>Literally by the time I graduate I will have spent less than 2000 dollars.

You still lost money fuckhead, you lost earning potential and Americans have higher salaries than you upon graduation anyway. After tax their starting salaries are approaching quadruple what you will earn in your mid career.
>>
>>7730677
I slit open my wrists and pray to the dark lord satan for the wisdom I require
>>
>>7730690
Take home exams are everything but "lovely", they're more like an excuse for a professor to ask the most difficult questions he can come up with and require students to concentrate over 8-12 hours rather than the usual university regulation limit which is 3 hours at most institutions owing to the fact that people need to eat and defecate.
>>
>>7730719
Who do you think actually pays for your subsidized education? Do you think national budgets are paid for by US taxpayers or something?
>>
>>7730722
Are you an actual German or a shitskin migrant?
>>
>>7730733
>earning potential

Statistics show that 40 million americans are still in debt for school which amounts for a trillion dollars. There was also a really big number for the amount of people who had defaulted on their loans because they simply cannot pay them back because you are lying about the immense salaries.

btw, my country uses the dollar but the cost of life is way smaller. When I went to the US I saw that the prices at Mc Donald's were literally three times as much as I the prices in my country. I'm using that as my scale.

So every dollar I earn is 3 dollars you earn and every dollar I spend is 3 dollars you spend. You americans have no excuse. Your higher education is eating you alive.
>>
Read the text, do a shit load of problems/proofs, honestly as much as I can. Sometimes read my notes but my notes are usually simply a way of me absorbing lecture and I do not need to read them afterwards.
>>
>>7730722
That's why studying in Europe is such is a stupid idea, unless you're actually stupid, in which case it will cost you no matter what.

In the US and most non-socialist third world countries you have tons of scholarships (and corporate bursaries if you want to sell your soul) which covers more than tuition and living expenses so even moderately well performing students can come out with a healthy credit in their bank account upon graduation, in some cases even more money than they could've earned working full time depending on what lifestyle they subscribed. Those who took a corporate bursary have a cosy job lined up too.

You already have a head start on your EU counterparts, and you live in a country with low living expenses and taxes.

Of course, if you're a below average student (read: stupid) you won't get scholarships and bursaries, so education will cost you a fuckton and you probably won't get a decent job upon graduation anyway.
>>
>>7730747
My country has no military so my money doesn't go to fuel war in the middle east and as such the government can easily run the universities without needing that much input from the students themselves. So much that they can even afford to pay their outstanding students.

Also, imagine if all your military budget went into education. You could have it as good as I have it but no. You all had to vote republican and you all had to create a culture that praises the military. Again, when I went to the US I saw the advertisements that said 'Be as much as you can be' or some shit to make people go into the army. Not only your economy is shit but so is your culture.

You deserve all you get.
>>
>>7730761
>40 million americans are still in debt for school which amounts for a trillion dollars.
Because they're the retards who studied liberal arts without a scholarship or trustfund.

If you're trying to feel towards literal retards you have some deep, deep issues.

>There was also a really big number for the amount of people who had defaulted on their loan
That's bullshit, you literally can't default on a student loan.

I've stopped reading since you are just making shit up and have no idea what's actually going on. I'm not American btw.
>>
>>7730750
Nah, I'm a true arischer german.
Geboren & aufgewachsen. (Born & raised here)
>>
>>7730768
>liberal arts
True but they are still people. They shouldn't be in complete poverty just because they went to the wrong degree. They should not be making above minimun wage but they should at least have a job and they don't.

>you can't default on a student loan

Turns out I know more about your situation than you do
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Student_loan_default_in_the_United_States

Makes sense. The more you stay uneducated the more you accept all the shit you are being given.
>>
>>7730765
>My country has no military so my money
Your country also doesn't have a GDP of 17 trillion.

>Also, imagine if all your military budget went into education.
America spends more per GDP on education that your country, I can guarantee it.

What is your country anyway? You're too ashamed to mention it because you know it's some shithole that's been stripped of any semblance of wealth because of your short sighted socialist policies.

>You all had to vote republican and you all had to create a culture that praises the military
Your retarded and you have no idea how politics in the US work.

>You deserve all you get.
Yes, being the richest country on the planet sure is tough. Having the richest people on the planet sucks. Having the biggest middle class with the highest mean salary is oh so fucking terrible.

Again, I'm not American, I don't even like the US, but you're retarded, they have the best economic policies on the planet which is why they are so successful.
>>
>>7730769
Why didn't you live with family while studying? You could've graduated with zero debt instead of pissing away rent money.
>>
>>7730768
>you are just making shit up

Take this article:
http://www.wsj.com/articles/about-7-million-americans-havent-paid-federal-student-loans-in-at-least-a-year-1440175645

>inb4 I'm not gonna read it.

The important bits say that the student loan debt is at 1.19 trillion dollars and is rising by the minute. Other than that, 7 million students have not delivered a payment in more than a year, and as such have defaulted on their loan. Another interesting thing is that the people with the loans claim that it will be literally impossible for them to pay the loan even in 15 years and that is why they don't even bother anymore.

>I'm not American

Then why the fuck are you talking then? I'm criticizing american higher education not your shitstain school in zimbabwe.
>>
>>7730763
You have gotta suck almost literally dicks for scholarships in germany. Most people are carried by their parents money here. Professor recommentations are also something which is pretty rare here. Most people are happy to make it through the phase and earn some money. Good jobs aren't a problem here either if you're smart about approaching.
Some people I know are earning as a student with part-time job 22 Euro/hour and even my girlfriend which is studying history is earning in a goob job (publishing) something about 13 Euro/hour.

Paying debt is not a problem here as well not getting a job. University here on the other hand is regarding to my experiences a lot harder than overseas though. We almost do not have these "graduated in [x] and just getting a job in starbucks". I would say you got it a lot easier herethanks to the chances here you get. It's just another moral and living environment available.
>>
>>7730773
>They shouldn't be in complete poverty just because they went to the wrong degree

They are the equivalent of retards who buy expensive flatscreens they can't afford with credit cards to show off to their firends, they deserve it, they deserve worse.

A tertiary qualification is not a goddamned need nor some sort of innate human right and the sooner people realize that the better. Yes education and knowledge sure, that's what libraries and the internet are for. A degree costs money on facilities and the services of a working faculty, it is by its nature not free.

Even if you have taxpayers chunking out for socialist universities like in the EU it costs the economy fuck tons to have directionless party school types studying worthless meme degrees instead of working.

Meme degrees should be stripped and minimum entry requirements to universities should be raised.
>>
>>7730774
>GDP of 17 trillion
Probably impossible with the population but as I already said, my dollar is worth 3 of your dollars. How are you going to rationalize this one huh?

>What is your country anyway?
No problem. I'm from Panama. I'm studying in the #1 ranked school of the country if you care to find out which one it is. Anyways, there is plenty of wealth but there is still poverty and I could say the same about USA.

The difference is that people who graduate here have guaranteed a life without worries. Even with shit degrees there are plenty of jobs. In the US, as I already showed in the news article, most of you got in poverty exactly because of your university and a lot of you can't even pay it back.

>Your retarded and you have no idea how politics in the US work.
I may not be an expert but you can't deny that even if you tried there is no way you could manage to make congress lower the military budget. It is part of you now until your country dies.

>Yes, being the richest country on the planet sure is tough
Indeed. But statistics show that less than 1% of the people have 50% on the wealth. What matters is that people coming out of higher education are immediately put into poverty. That is not okay. This should not happen. Your country may be rich but many of your educated people are struggling like if they had never graduated high school.

Why do you give so many excuses? Why do you accept all the shit you are being given and so happily defend it? I don't get it. If my university had me paying 40k a year I would rally against that shit all day.
>>
>>7730776
Different reason for that.
>studying in another city (which is sometimes required for something what's called Numerus Clausus)
>you don't like to live at home anymore -> being independent
>a lot of negative energy and bad blood at home...

For my part, I'm living at the moment still at home and have to give even my mother rent since she could not pay the bills otherwise. Paying for my own food, paying freetime stuff like eating out rarely, groceries, things like a new table/cheap thinkpad were needed as well. In the end, it all ends up over 3-4 years. The debt isn't bothering me at all. It's something I can easily pay off after 2-3 months when it's required. I saved up a bit as well.
>>
>>7730778
>>inb4 I'm not gonna read it.
I would, but it's asking me to subscribe.

> Other than that, 7 million students have not delivered a payment in more than a year, and as such have defaulted on their loan.
Ah I misunderstood what you meant earlier, I got confused by the finance legalfag terms, they can't declare bankruptcy on their student debt is what I meant.

> I'm criticizing american higher education not your shitstain school in zimbabwe.
There is literally nothing wrong with higher education in Zimbabwe. Just because the country is starving does not mean the universities are bad.
>>
Stay off the internet. Meditate and relax prior to studying; this being due to the conducivity of alpha waves towards memorizing things.

The internet's pretty bad for the brain; more specifically over, prolonged stimulation of the brain which is a consequence of staring at a screen and thinking about so many things as a product of text and idea variation. The reason for people's decline in attention spans is partially due to the latter part of the last sentence.

Study guides help. Imaginitively inventing ways to memorize the information helps too.

For mathematics, practice problems. Visually memorizing things; sub vocalization's vastly inferior.

Meditation's great.

I seriously can't go on with this discussion. Even I know that non-STEM students are literally retarded and I would never like to associate myself with them but I woudl never be like you. You seem to believe that they are inhuman. They deserve minimum wage and minimum wage should be more than enough to pay a college education.

But I do agree that entry requirements should be raised. At least that way less people would go to blindly spent hundreds of thousands of dollars only to be in debt for decades to come. That would be a good way to start but it would be even better if your government dropped the bullshit and the costs of higher education were reduced so that no one has to endure poverty.

Your situation is even sadder when I see how your embrace it. I read that back in the 70s just working part time in the summer was enough to pay a year of university. Not not even with a full time job could you achieve the same. How do you not get that you are being fucked in the ass by your government and your universities at the same.

And for what? So that your dean and the football coach can earn a million dollars a year.

Another statistic that is interesting is that Harvard's dean last year earned 300 million dollars.
>>
>>7730774
He said that they don't have military, so probably he's on Costa Rica, and yes, they have better public schools than the US over all. Also, their economic investment is more intelligent. It's not about how much you spend, it's about getting quality out of what you pay for.
>>
>>7730779
I think Germany's advantage is that half the population doesn't have a degree because you are properly limiting the amount of places and graduation rates at a university.

So even people like your gf studying lib arts have an actual niche and chance at getting a job after graduation.
>>
>>7730792
Might be really true. I just reread over my post. Sorry for those common mistakes.

Nowadays a lot more people are studying here. That's something a lof of people are worrying about nowadays even the students themselves. All they do is trying to optimize their CV and education. Maybe something will change.
Plus, a lot of people learned a trade as well before entering University thus they actually _can do_ something. A lot of people like to see trade + Uni education too.

But well, I think it really comes down to the economical and social structure and other parameters. Living expenses are somewhat okay, there are a lot of company of different branches and it's not as much competetion to each other as in the U.S. (we call it "Ellenbogen-Mentalitรคt").

I don't know. I could write some applications right now and would get a job in max. 1 week.
It's sometimes really like "living on easy mode".
>>
>>7730782
>my dollar is worth 3 of your dollars.
Literally the other way around though
>https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_GDP_%28PPP%29_per_capita
>54,370/19,546 = 2.78

On the IMF data.

PPP is not just about comparing prices at McDonalds.

>How are you going to rationalize this one huh?
With facts and economic principles.

>The difference is that people who graduate here have guaranteed a life without worries. Even with shit degrees there are plenty of jobs. In the US, as I already showed in the news article, most of you got in poverty exactly because of your university and a lot of you can't even pay it back.
Job availability is not really the point. You can get an engineering job that pays like a US teacher while American engineers from good schools can get 6 figure starting.

>I may not be an expert but you can't deny that even if you tried there is no way you could manage to make congress lower the military budget. It is part of you now until your country dies.
Both parties want high military spending. Putting boots on the ground in some desert shithole is irrelevant and cheap. Military spending is about pumping money in their economy through the defence industry and it works fantastically well despite bureaucracy and corruption issues. Military spending is empty rhetoric.

>But statistics show that less than 1% of the people have 50% on the wealth
Of course they do. If you built a massive company you are obviously going to garner orders more wealth than you would earning a salary.

>What matters is that people coming out of higher education are immediately put into poverty. That is not okay. This should not happen. You
Yes it should absolutely happen, retards gonna retard >>7730780.

You are conveniently ignoring the fact that most smart Americans come out of higher education to enter the highest salaried jobs on the planet or go on to become millionaires. 60% of the richest men in the US built their own wealth.
>>
>>7730782 [cont.]
Unlike in the EU where the richest inherit

>>7730782
>Your country may be rich but many of your educated people are struggling like if they had never graduated high school.
Whether you get a real degree or a meme degree you are not entitled to a job. You are struggling because you are a loser. If you lived in the EU you would be NEET after graduating. That's just life.

> I don't get it. If my university had me paying 40k a year I would rally against that shit all day.
Yes because you're a faggot pseudo political activist who thinks the world owes you anything. You're acting like the university faculty is your slaves and you have the right to demand they give you a free service for no reason.

So you're going to protest until tax payers and others are forced to pay that 40k for you? Really? Fuck you.
>>
>>7730805
>You can get an engineering job that pays like a US teacher while American engineers from good schools can get 6 figure starting.
I see no engineer complaining about their quality of life here. And the 10 guys who graduated at MIT to get 6 figure starting jobs should not be placed as the statistics you use to prove that you have it better.

Even plenty of the engineers in the so called 'holy trinity' struggle to find jobs. Everyone does. And they are engineers! That is ridiculous.

>Military spending is empty rhetoric.
Keep telling yourself that. That is why the cost of higher education, as high as it is, is also in an increasing trend. It is never gonna stop. BUT KILLING MUSLIMS IS A GOOD INVESTMENT!

>Yes it should absolutely happen, retards gonna retard >>7730780.

Then you are also an autist who think that people who are not in STEM are inhuman. Good to know. Now it makes sense why you try to defend the people who are fucking you.
>>
>>7730790
>You seem to believe that they are inhuman.
No, they are elitist pricks who should've been working blue collar/service/minimum wage/factory jobs instead of wasting thousands of dollars to spend 4 years partying.

This is what we told them, this is what their parents told them. But no, they thought they were better than their parents and now they're demanding everyone but themselves to pay for their mistakes so they can continue partying?

Fuck them, it's time they grow up.
>>
>>7730809
>you are not entitled to a job
I agree but that doesn't make it okay that your students are 1.19 trillion dollars in debt.

> faggot pseudo political activist
Funny, I don't even get involved in politics. Mainly because I don't have to. As flawed as the government is, it can run itself good enough that most are satisfied with it and as such you don't need that much people pushing them. Unlike the US where I see feminists and sjw in general in another protest every single fucking week. No one stops giving shit to people because no one is satisfied in the shithole they live in.

>So you're going to protest until tax payers and others are forced to pay that 40k for you? Really? Fuck you.
But that is how it is. Wanna know why? Because I go to a public university which happens to be the #1 in the country. It is public so the government pays for it and because the government handles it, is the best.

In here, the public schools are the top. But in US? The private universities that by now are just corporations like harvard are the top. Because your government is shit and they let billionaires run the scene. That is also why you are getting a second ass from all the cock you are taking.
>>
>>7730790
>Your situation is even sadder when I see how your embrace it. I read that back in the 70s just working part time in the summer was enough to pay a year of university. That doesn't matter to the majority of people who should actually be there and are studying on scholarships or bursaries.

You seem to be implying that people are somehow "tricked" into chunking out thousands in tuition.

I'm sorry, but who's fault is it exactly for looking at the financial section of a party school brochure and thinking "Mmm, yes, I will totally pay this fortune."

>Another statistic that is interesting is that Harvard's dean last year earned 300 million dollars.
Yes, but he deserves that, he could make even more running his own business in industry or working as a CEO.
>>
>>7730812
>BUT KILLING MUSLIMS IS A GOOD INVESTMENT!
Did you even read my post? Killing Muslims is not even a fraction of the military spending and it's not important either way.

You're obviously not reading my post, if you're not going to give consideration to my arguments then I'm not going to read anymore of yours.
>>
>>7730817
Let me given a shorter version of your post.

Let the rich keep getting richer and fuck the everyman. Don't even let them afford a living.

Seriously, your culture is disgusting. And even if you say that it is the fault of the people who study liberal arts, it is the same culture that makes them want to study liberal arts instead of bullshit like literature.

If you had a population of hard workers everyone would want to be a scientist or an engineer. You instead have a population of faggots who want to be popular on instagram.

Again, you deserve all you get. Your culture is toxic.
>>
>>7730823
>Let the rich keep getting richer and fuck the everyman.
Bullshit loser argument. 60% of the richest people on the planet created their own wealth. This is a fact.
>>
>>7730816
>The private universities that by now are just corporations like harvard are the top.
They're also the best universities on the planet and a degree from them is worth more than your shithole private uni.

Guess private does know how to run an institution better than public after all. Faggot.
>>
Why are you all arguing like cowards?
>>
>>7730828
But all of that is relative. If you graduate in the US you are probably going to work in the US and there the market is much tighter. However, harvard graduates will probably get a job in less than a week.

But I will graduate here and work here and I will also get a job without much problem.

I do agree that a degree from harvard is worth more than a degree from my university but like I said, it doesn't matter that much. In 5 years I will have 5 years experience just like harvard graduates will have and if I decide to travel and work abroad, my 5 years experience will be worth as much as their 5 years experience.

Also, lets keep this about education. Statistics show that as much money as universities are getting, the salaries of professors and investments in actual education areas are not increasing on par. Instead what you get are a bunch of huge swimming pools and football stadiums.

Yup, money well spent.

But honestly, I feel sad for you. How hard to do you have to be indoctrinated for you to not even care that everyone is having a go at your already fucked asshole.
>>
>>7730833

This guy is right, a degree is a better deal in a poorer country because not many have it. In the USA a degree is nothing, everyone has one and consequently jobs are much harder to get. That is why the US systwm is flawed, university isnt an option to get ahead anymore, its required to even start.
>>
Consistently go to class and prepare for classes beforehand by reading the textbooks.

Really doing the homeworks, even if they're not collected. If they're collected, don't copy them, still do them for real.

Then reviewing for a handful of hours before the exam by doing practice problems.
>>
>>7730677
Masturbate like 7 times day 1 of prep week.
Then, what do you not know that you need to know?
Also, were you following class thru the semester? What was covered and in what order? Why that order?
If you can't answer these questions, repeat step 1 every day until exam day, then start preparing your resume for whatever jobs are in your quaint college town. Barista, waiter, ditch digger...whatever will convince your parents you're ready to be an independent adult.
>>
>>7730816
This guy is right. Where I live the top universities are also public ones. This means that the best education is not only cheaper but also easier to get into. There are private schools but they have bad reputation for letting anyone who pays get in.

I believe this is the exact problem with the US. Your best schools are private ones ran by people completely uninteristed in education and who just care about making a profit.

I don't want to poke at the americans like this guy did but my honest advice to americans would be to push for more government funding in public education so that the public universities become the best ones and then everyone could afford a good education if they are smart.

Holy shit, fucking /sci/ man...

People on here are actually saying that if you don't find an interest in science or didn't study it in school you don't deserve to live? What the fuck? Go to university and do math for 20 years then try and live in the woods for a week, change a car tire, go for a hike, set a new PR, coordinate with your contacts to organize humantarian relief efforts for people dying in other countries.

Get off your high horse you fucking morons, knowing every single thing about math and science is still knowing not even a fraction of everything. You were born with an interest in science, not everyone is. Stop being so goddamn insecure.

>>7730677
Study hard for the whole month prior (or maybe a few weeks prior, usually), visit professors if I'm confused on anything too specific. Then, when the time actually arrives, relax a bit more, but still skim, and read through notes. Jerk off, hang out, fucking flow through it so I don't go nuts and still end up with a good mark in the end.
