Well, it depends on the digitalization process, some earlier scans are low quality. And I'd also say that the 70s and 80s photos seem lower quality due to all the glitter and haze and effects and bloom and shit. The 60s are clean, and vibrant and colourful.

Artistry was different
In the 60's new age art was just now beoming a thing so it had almsot no effect on the current art perspectives of the day as well as all the photographers as well as 90% of other artists learned/grew up/worked with older styles of whatever medium they were in.
The 80's looks the way it does specifically because the 60's and 70's actually had influence on it as opposed to just starting to happen.
