I think it's because growing up I never really got any attention. The only comfort I had were friends who joked/ took friendly jabs at each other. Knowing that we don't really expect anything out of each other gave some level of rest assuredness.
The rest of the time it was a constant state of self consciousness and avoidance. I don't understand other people or relate to their moods/ reactions/ interests and goals, so I don't know how to engage in ANY way.
I also spent way too much time memeing out with my brothers/ slightly more autistic friends. Lots of weird shit that had layers and layers of removal- but we knew no one else would understand it so we kept that shit between us.
And then when it comes to any emotional support or love- completely zero experience. The most appreciation I've probably received were people being impressed by shit I made, people laughing at my jokes, teacher or parents being proud of how I approach problems with my abilities/ use creativity...
But never any of that raw human contact/ emotional love. I just repel the notion of it. I don't know how I'll react when I do come into contact with it, if I ever will, or if I'll even be able to carry that responsibility + reciprocate it. I'd just scrutinize/ question the shit out of it and try to slice it off as being part of me, because I don't know how to live with it.
There's a way bigger comfort being the under-appreciated underdog who works their own way out of everything with mental strength and reasoning.
