I live on a sailboat, currently sitting on my couch chilling. My boat costs 15,000$ and its the nicest sailboat on the docks I'm at.
Upside to living on a sailboat
>1) bitches love it
>2) peaceful and relaxing, especially in the morning when the sun rises over the almost perfect water
>3) small and cozy as fuck
>4) free to travel anywhere around the world if you have the patience to travel via wind
Downsides to living on a sailboat
>1) lots of maintenance and repair work
>2) being on the docks, seagulls shit on your boat all the time, I'm always power washing my boat
>3) during stormy or rough nights, sleeping on the water can be a bitch
>4) it gets hot in the summertime and cold during winter, you can get heating and AC but that's just more maintenance to take care of
>5) solar panels and electrical can be a bitch sometimes
Other than all that it's much cheaper than renting an apartment, but the amenities are different. There's a shower on my boat but only has cold water, plus it's a small bathroom. So in turn I usually go on land to shower at the hotel that sponsers the docks.

I'm actually in school right now for turbine generation mechanics, I worked for a couple years moving furniture for a company. Saved up enough dough for this boat, rent, food/gas and education. The guy I bought it from wanted 32,000$ for it but I haggled him down to 15,000$ since he had his ad up for a while. It needed some work so I put in a wood floor and did a bunch of other stuff to it so now it's fit to go anywhere. The thing about boats is they have no resale value, so you can almost always talk down the price of them, but you can't expect too much if you try to sell it again otherwise it won't sell. The value of my boat currently ID say is 21,000$ but I MIGHT only get 13,000$ for it. It all depends

Anyone still have that pasta from the old days when an anon gets raped by his dad out in the sea and then gets revenge?

can I ask where you are docked? how do you pay for food and stuff, do you still work parttime?

how much does maintenence cost? how much does rent cost for your parking space? does the hotel let you shower for free?

your life sounds super cool desu, I might look into buying and living in a sailboat

before you bought the boat did you know that was your plan, or did it just kinda happen?

Can't you tell by the plastic bags everywhere. Clearly a drug runner.

It's said there are two happy days in a boat owners life, they day he buys it and the day he sells it.
>>

I lived aboard a 50 foot sailboat for 10 years, my uncle owned it and never used it, I got to stay for free until he died
A sailboat, that remains in the water, is a money-fucking-pit, shit always breaks and nothing is cheap
The marina I lived at was in San Francisco, had powerboats with tenants, place was basically a trailer park in the water
Guy 2 slips over farted at night you heard it all, water transfers sound like a loudspeaker
It was fun, but if I had inherited it I would have sold it
You can AirBnB one in a lot of coastal cities, stay in one for a week or so and see if you can handle it
>>
>>28480579
That is most certainly true but only applies to people who buy boats recreationally/for any use other than living in them.

If you actually use the boat as your permanent residency it will always be cheaper than a house, and most liveaboeards are happy to live in.
