My interpretation of Gondola is that he represents a very individual acceptance of the horrors of the world. Rather than being Nihilistic and angry, he is Nihilistic and at peace.
He doesn't feel the need to spread his ideas or be a revolutionary. He is content in his acceptance of the world and his lack of power within it.
In this sense he has a type of spiritual fulfillment missing from Nihilists, as though he were a monk meditating alone and becoming at peace with the world. You cannot be at peace as a revolutionary.

Its inability to speak and its lack of arms paint a very strong picture of a creature unable to interact with the world. It can be portrayed as both happy and sad. Gondola is caught up in emotions, but can never closure. Therefore Gondola wanders the earth with its long legs trying to find meaning.
I can identify with Gondola. Spending my whole day in front of a screen, unable to interact with the world, unable to make my voice heard. I try to find meaning with my limited view of the world. I'm always caught up in emotion, but I can never find closure.
