How did you find out and when? I read that some people only find out when they're already adults.

I haven't been able to find a job in 9 years I can't form friendships or relationships, It feels like I am acting when I try, people like me but I can't keep it up. girls flirting with me is great and all but I don't know what to do or how to keep a relationship going. I decided to get tested and was diagnosed with Asperger's last week. My story is pretty much the same as that of other anons in these threads; I found that a lot of the stuff I read in these threads over the years was very close to home. Before getting tested I'd suspected it for 6 years and at times I was close to becoming an hero through depression.
I thought it would be a relief but to be honest it's left me with more questions than I had before. I've been scheduled for regular counselling so hopefully that helps a little.

Diagnosed aspie here, can definitely relate to the eye contact thing, among others. Eye contact has always been fucking awkward. The only time I actually try making eye contact is when I'm talking to girls I like, which unfortunately doesn't happen much.
There's one in particular that applies to me on the super autism list, I'm not even gonna say it. It's too personal.

According to him when he was in kindergarten his teacher told the parents he might have autism, and they angrily flipped a shit at the teacher. They transferred him to a different school district. At first I took his side, but as the years went on of dating I started to assume his teacher was right.

Diagnosed austins here. I found out in a mental hospital when I was 14, though I have suspected it for many years before. It's an atypical form of high functioning autism though, they could never pinpoint the exact form. I'm quite different from other autists and tend to not like them.

My mom hid my diagnosis from me for years, i found out in my last year of high school. I learned to live without the crutch, but my autism shows when Im not on guard, when I'm alone having to do normal adult things (go grocery shopping, end up getting freaked out and leaving, fear of driving, talking to people i dont know).
When my mom told me, she claimed she just wanted me to live a normal life without a crutch like 'autism'. I look totally normal, which lets me get away with people thinking I'm just shy.
