You know, I've been sitting here resisting the temptation to start asking you about how to get into truck driving. I keep hearing the truck-driving meme around these parts and it's sounding more and more like the lifestyle for me.
I would absolutely love to give up my apartment and basically just float around the country, driving alone on the highway all day long. I think I could do that for years without being bored.
Thing is, as a robot I'm a bit anxious and even driving my old hatchback used to get my nerves up. I can hardly imagine what it would be like trying to pilot a big semi. Did you have to get over that or were you always kind of a natural at driving?

Trucking has been a way out of poverty for many common folk.
I did it for a while but it didn't work out for me, Living in a box on wheels for weeks on end gets to you after a while.
But if you want to do it it's pretty easy, just take a DMV test and find someone that has a truck to let you do the road test then if you pass you can start applying for trucking jobs.

Well, why not? I'm ugly and autistic and probably have a personality disorder. I've been rejected and isolated my whole life and am a weak beta male on top of things. Despite this I've had some surprisingly good opportunities in my life, but I've failed at all of them and pretty much wound up with nothing but some modest retirement savings.
I can't think of anything I really have to look forward to now, or anything I could work towards that would turn out to have been worth the effort. All of the usual trappings of success---a career, a house, a car, a wife, kids---are basically off-limits to me now, but truthfully I'd be even more miserable if I had any of them.
I'm old enough now that I am starting to feel my body age. My youth is over. What I'm facing now is a decades-long decline into poverty, ill health and probably even homelessness. My best years are well behind me and were never that great. Why on Earth would I want to stick around?
