EDM is becoming more and more like pop

I saw a show opened by a girl name Rezz who I enjoyed quite a bit. Even though she played some generic sounding dubstep shit it was her own stuff and she stuck to her roots which I liked a lot.

I used to be a huge fan of Zedd but nothing he makes is appealing to me anymore.

I liked Krewella alot for their upbeat and energetic music, but they haven't made anything good in years since the two roasties kicked out the beta that was basically the backbone of their operation

Getting more into trance these days, which I hated before.

I liked oldschool techno, trance, acid, dnb, even dubstep before frat boys got into it. Now, it's for people straight out of an Abercrombie to buy tickets to some shitfest, dye their hair blue and wear bootyshorts for two days. Social vampires claim another victim.

I like that one tune with the gabber kicks and the dissonant supersaw melody.

I did my first Stereosonic alone, desu it was probably one of the best made heaps of mosh-mates and didnt have to worry about dragging people to stuff I wanted to see.

Defcon aint really my scene but i'd say it would be much the same, 90% would be too fried to care or even notice you and the 9% will dance or death pit with you no worries. Theres always that 1% tho (looking at you turbo-lebs and gurning-maoris)
>>

What techno artists would you recommend? I'm clueless about the genre.

Go back and listen to some Ministry of sound mixes circa 2007 those things are 10/10 gold and will put you on to some good artists not only for production but also for DJ'ing.

Personally I fell in love with nauties electronica borderline pop stuff before branching of into House, Trouse and prog house.

If you like dark/gloomy/minimal/industrial/weird-ish techno:

Jon Hopkins - Immunity (best of the list but less kickdrum heavy, and only a few techno songs on the album)
Four Tet
Volor Flex
The Field
Surgeon
Ancient Methods (hit or miss)
Ishome (qt Russian producer girl)
Ansome

I agree Burial is way better. I don't listen to him much.

>>The Field

I don't actually like him at all after the first 4 bars of any of his tracks, way too much repetition for me. Was just trying to give the poster different perspectives.

I really like some of her songs. They're not mixed well but I like the beats.

Thank god my country has such a good techno scene.

And also everyone can dance to techno, even the most shut in shitnerd

EDM and EDM festivals are the epitome of normie. More STDs are passed at a festival in a day than Africa in a year.
I don't use the word degenerate often but they are truly degenerate.

Indeed.

dubstep was around for roughly 12 years, the first dmz and the first hyperdub were out in 2004.

Hardstyle was around for longer than that.

>>27820577
If it as prominent as a gabber kick it might as well be, especially if you throw an attention grabbing dissonant supersaw synthesizer over it.
