I always, always heard "he's creepy" and got deathglares, so I started taking creepshots just so that I would know there was a concrete reason for that behavior. If I was a bigger man, I would've just taken it and said "milady" til the grave, right? No winning.
IMO the best way to avoid this in public is A) to have good hygiene, B) to make sure that your disposition and facial expressions fit the scenario, C) that you never make any inappropriate advances. Also, it is good to keep the humor and sarcasm to a minimum until somebody warms up to you. Jokes and especially sarcasm can be lost on others and misconstrued. In general, try to avoid going out of your way to see or talk to a woman. You might think that you're being cute but more times than not, it seems desperate.
If you get involved with a woman, do not get too clingy/do not call and text her too much. Never show up to her home or place of work unless it is established. Be stoic about your feelings for her, don't talk too much about her to her friends, etc. Having good intentions and being excited is one thing, gushing and losing your mind is another.
If you get sexual with a woman, even if it's totally consensual, which it obviously always should be, she can still say that you raped or abused her after the fact. If she spreads word about this, you will be ostracized or worse, even though she is lying. The rule of thumb: make sure that you believe a woman is thoroughly rational before engaging in any sexual activity with her. Red flags don't really work as well as instincts and conversation. Don't push her to do anything that she doesn't like. Make sure you don't just fall silent if things get sexual... talk about it, ask what she likes, etc.
