It fits the banal social narrative of their dumb vapid minds: strong alpha male saves the world and gets the girl.

Grotesque ugly guy is the bad villain man and must be defeated and ridiculed with bad one liners a 4 year old could write.

Because it is flavour of the month in Hollywood and that's what all the big expensive movies with their favourite actors are in. It frustrates me because millions of creative geniuses write tens of millions of unique and interesting movies each year, but my favourite movie is probably something I'll never see because the big studios want to choose safe investments and just pump out

It's been the flavor of the "month" for like a decade now. I am so sick of it.

I was thinking about this the other day.

I think it's because it's simple. normies aren't particularly interested in a deep experience. superhero movies all follow the same format, so the normie doesn't have to think at all; he can just sit back and absorb. I spoke about this issue with a friend of mine. When I said that superhero films don't stray from the normal path, she said that knowing what is going to happen makes the film comforting. That's absurd to me. I don't read a book or watch a film to be comforted; I wish to be taken for a fucking ride. I want to have my world rocked by a story that makes me question things I've known my entire life.

from what I understand, crazes such as this in the film industry always die out eventually. just waiting for this one.

This. It's flavor of the month, but in Hollywood time Flavor of the Month tends to be flavor of the decade. It ties in with the normie fascination with "geek culture" popularized by Big Bang Theory.

it's funny how kids would get bullied for this kind of thing 20 years ago

And that's the thing that fucking pisses me off, and these are literally the same people that fall in love with it, pretending it was cool all along.

I thought it was because comic book movies are the perfect vehicle for the standard hero's journey formula.
>>
>>27480813

here's what i find weird; the movies aren't even engaging on a pop level. most of the movies are boring, lacking in color and trite

is not like you are on the fucking internet and can follow well known directors like Inarritu, Malick, Fincher or whoever the fuck you like, hell you can even """"""""""get"""""""""""" into movies and watch older movies
>>

I do try to find new and exciting and obscure films, and I love talking about them with people. I guess what I really meant was that I am concerned with the trend of only making movies that are safe investments. If it's this bad now, how bad will it be in 2030?
>>
>>27481387
In 2030 all mainstream content will be completely computer generated.

In this era even the shittiest hand drawn indie comic is like water in a desert.
>>
>>27480303
Yeah I don't get it millennials love shitty superhero movies for some fucking reason

it doesn't matter what a trend or thing is about. what is important is who likes/uses it and who doesn't. people will love the most shallow and idiotic things as long as some (semi-) famous actress, singer or whoever shows interest in it.
