But you'd have to learn how to sail first, then you'd have to pay everytime you get into any harbour to refill your supplies and then there is the risk of getting into a storm and shipwreck.

You just pull a little row boat / tender behind the sailboat. When you need to go to land for supplies you just drop anchor in a safe area of the harbor and row/motor into shore... This is free as fuck.

Trust me m8 I lived on a sailboat for 5 years after high school and only costed me like a couple thousand dollars in food. I spent most of my government free bees on books and records.

>>
>>27080127
well... Point of having a sailboat is so you can sail to different places.

And up keep is next to nothing as long as you take good care of the rig and sails. The hull is made from fiber glass and fiber glass will last thousands of years without wearing out.
The most you would ever have to do is change the water in the fresh water tanks and do an oil change every other year... Unless you have a little electric motor, That would be awsome and they make them and sell for under 200 bucks

I lived on a boat after I got out of highschool, Moved down to flordia from canada and then got my boat and sailed down to the USVI's . Winter is not a problem as long as you stay south.. Point of a boat is that you are not bound to any country or climate. So don't think just because you are from some place cold like eurpoe that you can't do this. Just go to the Mediterranean and live in the sea down there.
>>
>>27079788
Any other pictures or a name of that amazing structure?

I would do this but im already caught in the stream with gf and uni. Might do it one day tho. Got 160k euro saved up but the whole problem is that i need a income stream. Im only 24 so i might do it one day after uni is done (Im from scandinavia so uni wont really be a waste if i chose not to use the education since i dident pay for it. Also healthcare is free so i can do this until i die alone)

Building 2 or 3 houses and renting out the others could be a way to do this tho.

Question for ppl that owned boats
What's it like sleeping? Do yo get used to the waves? What's it feel like after spending weeks/months on a boat then going to a bed on land?
>>
File: vberth.jpg (15 KB, 432x324) Image search: [Google]
vberth.jpg

>>27080407
typically when you are sleeping the boat will not be under sail or moving. And anytime you want to rest you will usually sail into a harbor that has big break walls to keep the ocean waves out.
So anytime you get to a inner harbor the water is calm and flat because the waves can't forum in such a small area. in this case that is 99% of the time the boat is still and you wouldn't even know you are in a bed in a boat.

How ever once in a while you will experience a storm or some heavy wind and this will kick up some short chop waves... These can gently rock the boat side to side a bit but nothing that intense... its actually kinda nice.

After weeks of being on the boat to sleep a bed on land just feels the same but you can usually have more room to stretch out.

The coolest sensation is when you have spent a few hours sailing in wind and waves and then you come back to land and lay down, when you lay down your inner ear plays a trick on you and makes it feel like you are still rocking with the waves and if you close your eyes you could swear you are still on the boat sailing.

What countries do you think would shoot you?

Normally you stick to one region and don't make a lot of open ocean crossings.

Also when you are going somewhere it is important to radio ahead to ask for permission to dock or let the authority's know you are coming so they can interview you and confirm your ID. I have sailed to over 19 different country's and the only time I ever even spoke to any authority was when I was in T&T because I needed to ask for directions to a boat store and they just wanted to confirm my age and that I had not stolen the boat and that I was the rightful owner.

you can do anything you want.

I like to go sailing a lot obviously

I spend a few hours reading every day because I love it and its nice and peaceful to know you are all alone on the boat.

I spend a good amount of time on here and other websites... you can get a very reasonable satellite data plan for using on boats.

I sleep like 11hrs a day just because I can.

I listen to lots and lots of music and play guitar

I got to the occasional bar and find a girl to bring back and sleep with, they usually stick around for a day or so until I say I'm leaving for the next place.

I love to paint the sunsets as they cascade across the different cites and landscape I see when I'm anchored.

I have a dog that lives with me so I usually take her to shore and go for a walk and grab anything I think I need.

I have lots of hobbies that come and go and I just genuinely enjoy my own company more than being around other people.

>you don't have to pay any rent or taxes
How do you avoid harbour/berth fees?

My brother lives on a boat but he's the pilot for the harbour area and doesn't have to pay for his berth. Even with his decent wage he couldn't afford to live on his boat otherwise.

It's like getting rocked to sleep. It's fucking awesome especially on a wooden ship that creaks. Even though it's a loud environment any sound is pretty rythmic (engines for instance really put me to sleep) and the working day is hard so you sleep pretty well.

I get badly seasick and usually hate the roll of ships on deck but in bed with your eyes closed it's great.
>>
>>27080583
Depends on what you want from it.

Typically if you plan on living on a boat you will want something that is bigger than 26feet because this will give you a nice sized kitchen and room to stand in the cabin... You can easily find something this sized for less than $7,000.

I personally own a C&C37r, that used to belong to my father. he passed away when I was only 16 and I got to have his boat. He taught me to sail and maintain the boat. my boat you can find for around 30k-70k depending on the condition. But I would not suggest a boat this size (37feet) to anyone not very experienced.

The smaller the boat the easier to manage, And I think a nice live aboard sailboat should be easily had for anywhere around 10-13k

If you want a cheap house in the EU, go to Romania. Sure, no NEETbux to rely on but not as many shitty laws to tie you down either so you can still do pretty much anything there.
>>
>>27080688
If you want you can scrub the bottom every week while you are swimming, its not hard... that looks like the boat was abandoned in a warm salt water ocean for years...
>>
>>27080712
Yeah, until a pack of gypsies attack you.
>>
>>27080738
no gypsies in rural areas, they need someone closeby to rob to survive
>>
>>27080672
When you live on a boat you have two main options. you can rent a boat slip at a marina for like $30 a month OR you can be smart and just anchor your boat in the same harbor and use a little inflatable row boat to span the distance from your sailboat to the shore, and this costs nothing once you have the row boat... this is what most people do that live on sailboats because It makes it possible to gain access to land that you otherwise couldn't get to...and you can bring your bike with you to shore to get around. it also doubles as a life boat encase something was to happen to your sailboat.

I do different things.

I do boat repairs for cheap for other people because I'm good at it and I don't think its fair to charge so much for work I find easy.

I do a bit of work for an advertising company doing graphic design .

I teach at a seasonal sailing academy in the virgin islands and get paid a good wage under the table. I essentially work for 3.5 months a year and save up and then just do the odd job for the advertising company on the side in the remaining time.
>>
>>27080332
>implying I was saying any of that was bad
No I'd love to get fucked in the ass by fit sailors, eat fresh fish and veggies (for nutritional reasons) and shoot at pirates (because I don't have to care that much about if they're innocent or not like government types would have to.

Could also float around and protect European borders. But that's a bit edgy I guess.
>>
>>27080616
find a local yacht club or community center that does sailing and inquire about learning to sail.

Chances are they have a program already in place for people looking to learn.

Sailors are very friendly people who LOVE to teach others to learn to sail.

Find a amazing girl that you can relate to and enjoy companionship with as well. Have a child and raise them in the ways of your lifestyle. then help them find a wife or husband as well and continue to do this and eventually you will have your own society of detached hippies that live off the land. Just be careful of inbreeding.
>>
>>27080989

If you know the right people, you could build your own cheap, little house for 35-40k.

That is a a few years of saving and living frugally, for potentially a house that you got built from the ground up.

I have thought a lot about it, and owning my own home, no matter how small, is ultimately what I want in life.
