From what I've discovered, knowing an anime is sad usually ruins it, not much but it did ruin it for me
Unless you always tear up at sad parts in animu and games and stuff, you'll be expecting it and won't actually be as sad as it seems.
I watched Angel Beats thinking it was a comedy and that last episode hit me so hard because I didn't expect it.
I watched Clannad thinking it was a super sad anime and got a slice of life romantic comedy with the NPC's dealing with something sad for three episodes out of the 24 or so. The Extra was pretty sad though.
After story however was different. The first 12 or so episodes was your slice of life romantic comedy, then it became sad, but then happy again, and then sad. It was sad for sure, but it takes a very long time to get there, and once you are there is sort of just makes you happy, sad, happy, sad then happy again.
I mean sure, give it a shot if you want.
