>ITT: What are your New Year's Resolutions?

In 2016 I want to learn German, is this a particularly tough task for an English-speaker? Where do I even start?
>>

start by going to a torrent site and writing the following or something along these lines
"learning german"
"german grammar"
"german language"
Also, when you feel you have an ok vocabulary start reading books in german, see films in german, play games with germans, find a german forum

The above worked for me when I learnt russian.

My resolution is to build upon what I have learnt in programming so far by dramatically increasing my study hours.

I feel I can be job ready one day, or one year, maybe 2016 is the year.

learning a language is a shitton of work
you don't have to be that smart but you do have to put the hours in.

right, right. Do you speak any other languages? if so which ones and how did you go about tackling them.
Also. Your new years resolution!

It really is a good way to start. There are many many resources you can download for free, and if you find a good book, stick with it, do the exercises, collect the new words etc. Basically let the books guide you. At some point look into a thing called a *frequency dictionary* where you for example have 5k or 10k words most often used. Really useful so that you can memorize the most used words first.

Been programming 4 months now, september, october, november, december. Currently learning some math so I can start algorithms and data structures
