How do I learn to lower my standards?

Don't fucking lower your standards. That's pure shitty normie advice. You're allowed to have your own values, tastes and opinions. Attraction isn't a choice, you don't have control over who you find attractive.
People tell YOU to lower your standards because they're projecting this false hierarchy over people. "Oh someone doesn't find you attractive, well you're not allowed to find other's attractive!" It's a cruel way of enforcing Halo Effect. The normies can't stand the fact of an unattractive person being happy or getting laid because it grosses them out in the most petty, childish way.
If anything, *broaden your horizons*, and find more people attractive than you normally do. Porn helped me with that. I used to only like blonde girls but seeing porn gives you a lot of examples to find something else you find attractive too. But don't lower your standards. No one wants to be the one someone settled with out of desperation, it's humiliating.

Oh and on the fat thing? That's a perfectly valid fucking reason. "I'm not fat" Because you know what? When you're skinny, IT PHYSICALLY HURTS HAVING THIS PERSON ON TOP OF YOU.
