Alright guys, I've done a bit more research. I didn't have time to set the bank account up today, so I'm going to try get that set up tomorrow and hopefully get the ball rolling by Thursday.

This is the island we're looking at:

http://www.privateislandsonline.com/islands/crystal-river-ozello

Steam group:

http://steamcommunity.com/groups/r9kIsland

Here's some solar panels:

https://www.amazon.com/LCS-100-Watt-Solar-Panel/dp/B01CHTRENM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1468198091&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=100+watt+solar+panel&psc=1

Here's what we need to fix:
>What grants could we obtain to use as income?
>How can we set up internet?
>Should we get some other boards involved? /k/, /diy/, even /pol/ might be able to help out
>Could we make money off of turning it into a reality show?
>We need to be able to make at least 10,000 a year for property tax
>What plants could we grow? I know Florida grows oranges and tobacco
>How should we go about fishing on the island?
>What's the water situation? Drilling a well? That can be around 30,000.
>What are the actual structure blueprints
>Could we build tunnels instead? Maybe trailers would be cheaper
>It would be cheaper to get a plot in the wilderness somewhere in the mainland. What do you guys think?
>How can I set up the kickstarter without either getting doxed by normies or getting fucked by taxes?

I've been playing Tropico to get ready for this. It seems like growing and selling tobacco is a solid money maker. It's forever in demand and, once properly dried, it seems to keep forever. Easy export.

>>
>>29887156
Probably, if we're still part of a country. In which case we'd likely need all sorts of licences, have to pay hefty taxes and would probably need to deal with unions and big tobacco corporations.

Alcohol would probably be even harder to sell. We'd need contacts on the mainland who could market and sell our booze.
>>
wow this seems pretty awesome. 160 grand for the whole island? jesus christ thats cheap. 60 acres is fucking huge. unless im misunderstanding something. maybe its just shitty marsh or swampland? you could build a awesome golf course, tennis courts, some nice housing, and turn it into a resort . the no power and no water is a problem, but that could be fixed im sure.

>>
I doubt any of you faggots have more than $60 in the bank.
>>
>>29887373
One anon in the last thread estimated 11,000 per robot. Assuming we had 100 robots, that would be 1,100,000. Obviously we need to find a way to lower that. I offered some possible solutions in the OP, and I think buying trailers might provide a happy medium between cheep shit-tier condos and mud huts. Besides, if there's a hurricane we can move the trailers onto the mainland.

If we get wells drilled, that could cost up to 36,000 depending on how many are drilled, where they're drilled, how deep, etc. We won't know more about that unless the land gets surveyed.

Solar panels would be 20,000 at most, but I don't even think it would be that much if we go with the ones in the OP. An anon suggested we could use them to charge car batteries, so factor that into the price

I'm still not sure how we can desalinate the water; there might be a "homemade" way to do it.

And finally, there's the property tax, which I think would be at least 11,000 per year. It might actually go down depending on how badly we shit the island up

>>29887434
Yeah, because the island police are going to come and make us spread our houses out to one house per 40 acres.
>>
Saw the thread last night, didn't contribute in any other way than to mention that I already own some land and maintaining it is a bitch
Seems at least one of you absolute madmen is taking things seriously though, now you have my attention
Honestly the way I see as easiest for you to do something like this, would be to get an island large enough that you could declare sovereignty
Look up The Republic of Minerva
It was in reality a scam to have a location for unlicensed gambling and shit, but I guess if you had the support (read funding) of people who would want to run these things on your island you'd get what you want a lot quicker
>>
>>29887578
Have you seen those bunker houses? we could have one of those in case of a hurricane.
>>
>>29887284
60 acres is not huge and nowhere near big enough for even a 9 hole golf course unless that's the only thing you want on it. Plus you're not getting the whole island, you're getting what's in the yellow box. A lot of the time "islands" like this are only separated from the mainland by the intercoastal waterway and can be walked/swam to from the mainland.

There's a reason why it's only $120k. $120k for 60 acres of land is pretty cheap no matter where you are in the US. This land is next to worthless. It's a marshy mosquito-riddled shitheap. OP should be considered incompetent for even posting that property like it's a good option.
>>
>>29887578
Florida man here, digging a well, especially on an island may be infeasible. digging more than 4 feet is guaranteed to hit saltwater. there is a reason basements are almost non-existent in FL.

>>
>>29887902
This makes the most sense. I don't know why it was decided that an island or humid as fuck region by the ocean (which can cause it's own share of problems) would be the best idea. Better to find cheap property out in the midwest that no one wants.

>>
>>29887955

>>
>>29887724
Frankly I think you should give up on the island idea. Any island that would actually be considered luxurious is going to be $1M+. Any island that is not is going to be a shitheap, or not a real island. And all islands are going to have the same set of problems. Forget about a well, you won't be able to dig a well at sea level, especially not on an island where getting the equipment out there just to TRY to dig it would be a nightmare, and nightmarishly expensive. You'll have to do rainwater collection and purification. For a plot of land designed to sustain dozens of people, you would need a huge collection tank for people to have enough water to shower. Construction costs are going to be astronomical unless you build it yourself, due to the inaccessibility of the island/"island", and whatever you get built will sink in a few years anyways, seen it happen before on these glorified "private islands". It's a huge money pit. Islands are for two types of people:
1) people who don't mind living off the grid and love to fish
2) millionaires who want a vacation home and have the cash to make it happen

Your best bet is probably to get some cheapo land in the Midwest. Sure it's not as exotic and cool as an island but it's much more feasible. For example:

Something like this except better.

That was not meant to be a serious suggestion, just spitballing as to what is more realistic.

Not OP and not looking to take charge of this headache, but the first thing we should do is lay out a list of qualities that the land MUST have and use that to figure out where the land should be, then look for land in that area.

My ideas:
>Fairly remote, away from normies/won't have to deal with normies routinely
>Accessible by car?
>Preferably within 40 miles of a decent sized city where supplies could be bought if necessary
>what climate do we shoot for? A cold weather climate will require heating inside the house and is less suitable to agriculture, a climate too hot will require A/C or robots willing to be miserably hot
>what acreage?

Also, something similar to this is actually under way on /k/ right now. It's not "the /k/ompound" like so many anons have listed for for so long, but it's close. The organizer of Nuggetfest bought (I think) 40 acres of land in Nevada and is preparing it to be sort of a permanent home for Nuggetfest-esque activities. You go for the weekend and admission is based on ticket sales, one weekend is $30. It's called Arkadia Ranch, might wanna look it up and use it for inspiration.
>>
>>29888280

Plus land is super cheap for the acreage and they're in the middle of no where
>>
>>29888385
I would go for a temperate zone, so middle/middle east.
>>
>>29888251
Might as well throw in the maybes. That's what we did last thread. We can just get a bunch of options and go from there

>>29888226
Yeah, that might not be suitable building terrain either. The best way I know of to figure out whether we can use the land or not is to have it surveyed, which costs a couple hundred dollars

>>29888344
What's so abysmal about it?

>>29888385
This is a pretty good list. Climate might not be a big concern though.

>What acreage?

Good question. Maybe 50 acres? It's important too that we can actually build on the land

>>29888492
Honestly, that's the feeling I've gotten since the first thread. That being said, I think things will pick up once we build some momentum.

>>29888553
But this is completely unfeasible. One of the reasons I wanted to set up something like a Kickstarter was to ensure there would be no way of committing fraud. If you try to take donations and run with them, the feds will be after you.

Even still, it poses new problems. I can probably figure the taxes part out, but I really don't want to get doxxed

>>29888603
This might be alright, but let's see if there's something cheaper. I'm still looking around myself
>>
>>29888470
Honestly, you could do it on 10 acres, but it would be a bit cramped. Try and understand how small 50 acres actually is. 0.0781 square miles. Roughly, it's a square with each side equaling about a quarter mile. You can basically kick a soccer ball from one side of an acre to another, but they cost like $3500+/each. Land isn't cheap.
>>
>>29888656

If you want to make money real quick op you should try and convince a few of these robots to hand over their social security numbers and create a fraud ring through use of credit cards. It's not like neets are going to need credit anyway. Each social can be turned into tens, upto over a hundred thousand dollars.

Look up bust out fraud, the only difficult part is knowing how to launder all the money you'll make. I actually work in a bank and have to watch out for these people. They make shittons of money and there are few defenses against it.

That should help fund your island dream real quick.

NO. NO NORMIES ON MY ISLAND.
>>
>>29889359
You can get wayyyy more in the desert states for.that much

I'm talking hundreds of acres
>>
>>29889350
No. The point of a robot island is that it will be inhabited by robots.

Having disgusting whores spreading disease and stirring up fights is bullshit and we don't need it.

This was all covered in last night's thread. No grills, no 'trannies' and no feminine gays.

Any down-low gays who start attention-whoring, any arguments or obvious relationships, you get banished.

Don't ask, don't tell.
>>
>>29889408
It's cheap for a reason desu. Deserts are horrid
>>
>>29889359

That looks like some decent land, pretty far from me but everything needs a start. depending on if we make mad money we could pick up close plots as well to expand into.

>>29889408

also a good point. just need to gauge interest in certain zones and the challenges we would face, places that freeze and snow need heating, and hot places need ways to combat miserable heat.
>>
Anon with nothing to lose here. I'm not going to reveal my identity but if this ever happens I'm going to kill everybody on the island.
>>
>>29889446
Wet. Rags.
Just lay one on your neck and your set sempai
>>
>>29889470
yeah i'm pretty used to it but other anons might be deterred is all im saying.
>>
Too small. Much better to have a comfy ranch with lots of land.
>>
>>29889408
Yes, but the question is whether we could support ourselves with that land. What could you grow there? Any states you would suggest?

>>29889454
Good thing Washington has a stand your ground law
>>
>>29889454
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawn.
You could have at least come up with some some of you are ok dont settle down on this land-memes.
>>
>>29889454
Bring it you little twink cunt.

I'll bend your limp body over a barrel and fuck a hole clean through your fucking torso. I'll show you exactly how much you have to lose: your anal virginity and your life.

Steam chat says:
/pol/ Should have a town nearby too
We build a wizard tower and chad will keep out the women
We will have a perma festival around the tower
/pol/ /r9k/ and /jp/ will be allowed to enter
It will be Comfy White Heaven
No girls allowed at all
If it all fails we will all hang around in someones basement and play rts all day

This is a possibility.

Alright guys, I'm going to get the bank account set up tomorrow. I'm still trying to look for a crowdfunding site that won't get me doxxed.

I know a lot of people were against it, but we should really consider bringing some other boards into this. They might be able to bring skills to the table that would help us sustain the property.

Next to actually purchasing the property and building on it, the hardest part is going to be maintaining it. We'll have to pay property tax on it every year

I'll be in this thread on and off. If this thread is dead by tomorrow I'll make another one around the same time.
>>
>>29889990
Only useful threads would be /out/ and /diy/. let's leave /pol/ and /k/ out of it, they will ruin our comfy robot community
>>
>>29890120
True, can /o/ come?
>>
I don't decide who can come and who cant, I'm just voicing my opinion, I've never been on /o/ so I don't know the community
>>
>>29886633
I thought it was agreed that we wouldn't be going for the island in Florida because it's not actually an island. It's still connected to the mainland.
>>
>>29890469
It looks like we won't even be going for an island now
>>29889359
>>29888385
>>29888080
>>
>>29890622
>No island

Interest lost. Did everyone forget the US owned, unihabited islands that are completely free and legal to go live on?
>>
>>29890638
There's no way anything like that is sustainable from within

You'd have to have a boat to get to it, and be constantly ferrying supplies, primarily fresh water
>>
>>29890638
You would still have to pay taxes. Read the thread
>>
>>29890749
A number of them have water collectors and habitable structures already, simply unoccupied.

>>29890782
Taxes on what? It's government land, you aren't generating income, and down own property or housing. It's comparable to squatting in a national park, except of course it's an island and no one else is there.
>>
>>29890852
>Hey guys, lets all just sit around on government property and wait for them to kick us out

Yeah, terrible idea. Buy a plot of woods and go from there
>>
>>29890973
>wait for them to kick us out

You are profoundly ignorant.
>>
>>29886633
If you do start this, which you really should, then you need to think of an efficiant form of government. Something along the lines of anonymity and democracy.

Also, you should definetly bring some other boards into this imo
>>
>>29886633
Awesome idea but it seems too good to be attainable
>>
>>29891148
>anonymity and democracy.
I say we all wear Bane masks.
As more robots join there will be a ceremony to weed out the non-robots from the ones worthy of the mask.
>>

It only takes 2 acres of land to sufficiently feed a family of four: visual(dot)ly(slash)how-big-backyard-do-you-need-to-live-land. That means one person can tend to food while the other 3 have different jobs or you can just do it all your self and have extra food to trade as well as extra energy you can sell from the solar panels. With the other acres we could grow and sell weed legally and make some cash with the chance of becoming a successful company and making a shit ton of money. We could live in caravans as it's pretty cheap to get them 2nd hand. If we make a decent amount of money we can invest in our land like making it desirable and building a housing that we can sell to rich people as a place to live in a safe self sufficient community in case things go tuts up.
>>
>>29891367
It's no meme. Speaking of climate disasters, if we ever find somewhere with good fishing, the Chinese will come there soon enough to drive local schools to extinction

>>
>>29886633
lol, I really like the idea, but is isn't realistic at all. for one, we would need to be self sufficient, and by definition, being a robot means you are lacking in the self sufficiency department. we would not only need to be able to grow food, but we would also need stuff that is essential to the functioning and wellbieng of society, like hospitals, law enforcment, some kind of government. also, you guys seem to forget that most robots are austic and spergy as fuck, I don't even need to explain why a society composed of 160 autists wouldn't function as a society.
