Simple, profit. Profit drives everything. The argument that you want to give more people more things is great. Thats exactly what the government does through taxes. But you can't overstress the corporate system and expect that it will magically fix things, or that you can just have the government randomly start robbing the rich outright.

The truth is that eventually, for the majority of people, someone gets stuck with more work than the pay is worth. They will be forced to bear the brunt of the risk and receive a modicum of the reward.
Thats the system that the poor would need to overcome somehow to benefit every worker. But it doesn't work, because in the end every workers problem is too expensive to solve. So it becomes a position, and insurance, and etc. etc. to make it seem like you're taken care of.
In the end the guy at the top is always winning the hardest.
