In my experience so far in life (31 years) the normalfags usually are the first ones around with the cool and fun thing.

Then the autists show up and define themselves through it. Then it gets overly complicated and too many emotions get wrapped up in it.

But the autists waste all their money on it so the corporations take notice and start marketing to them. After a while enough autists get into it ugly women start to show up because they can't find attention elsewhere.

Then the lower-tie Chad types come over and it's all over from there.

But the original cool and fun thing was mostly done by regular joes, who just happened to stumble across it and shared with with a few of their relatively normal friends.
