Hey fellow vegans. Share your story, recipes or other stuff.
>when?
>why?
>how long did it take?

As for our omni friends, if your curious about things feel free to ask.

And for those opposed. Post what comes to you. Hell, i cant stop it.

And for every: Remember poe's law and embrace it.

There are many reasons to be vegetarian other than for ethical reasons

>>29597730
OP next time you make this thread you should call it vegetarianism instead, there's probably 10x more vegetarians than pure vegans
>>
>>29598425
I really should just go with plant based diet. What people consider vegetarian make no sense most times. Like fish being vegetaables.
>>
I'm a vegetarian, but veganism is too much for me. I couldn't live without my dairy products. I couldn't care less about giving up eggs though.

I do avoid leather clothing though, and I'm opposed to laboring animals. I don't even think wild animals should be kept in captivity in zoos.

do people really do this

I think most pescetarians know they aren't vegetarians but do it because fish isn't nearly as bad as meat in regards to the environment, and fish is super healthy with all the omega 3 and shit idk

my uncle is a doctor and he is a pescatarian, I should ask him why he only eats fish

I might switch one day I really wanna try sushi one day I've never eaten it before

Thank you rob. It helps bring perspective to see these animals before they become peripherals.
>>
>>29598568
>I don't even think wild animals should be kept in captivity in zoos.
honestly it really depends on the zoo. In the united states, most zoos are very responsible, and are more organizations which raise funds for the conservation and research of endangered animals rather than just act as a place to see animals - in fact I think for profit zoos may be illegal in the USA

But in many parts of the world, zoos don't treat animals well, and don't really have an aim other than entertainment. This is especially a problem with Japanese zoos, Japan has the most zoos per capita in the world, and many of the smaller regional zoos were clearly not designed with the animals wellness in mind - see the story of the lonely elephant, Hanako. This problem is definitely being fixed, and it's clear the Japanese people want change, although it will take time

I think zoos on average are good things, they raise both awareness for animal conservation and raise funds to help make a difference and protect vulnerable species from extinction, but like with anything, there are definitely pros and cons to zoos. Think of it like the animals have a 24/7 job to raise awareness for their species and the problems their species are facing. Think about how much money the giant panda has made by being a fatass and sitting in a zoo
>>
>>29598751
Sad to say alot of vegans are blithering retards that think a raw diet with no vitamin b12 is perfectly viable. Because hippies.

Since vitamin b12 is produced by bacteria that lives in untreated water. While we lost our b12 atleast we reduced cholera incidence.

Other vegans. Take your damn supplements.
>>
>>29598809
I have no respect for giant pandas. Anything thats that picky about sex should just come to this board and go exstinct
>>
>>29598895
they may be stupid animals, but giant pandas have raised more money than any other animal for the purpose of animal conservation and animal rights

there's a reason the giant panda is the mascot and on the logo of the WWF

I had a soy burger at some restaurant in my city today, and holy shit, that tasted pretty similar to meat

maybe it's because I haven't had meat in a long time but if we are already this close to emulating meat, I highly doubt many people will still eat meat in the future

manufactured meat is going to take over meat almost completely in 50 or 100 years

Something like 0.5% of the US population eats a plant-based diet. We'll round that up to 1%. Now, what percentage of the US population would you estimate are bodybuilders? Probably a very small number, which I'm willing to bet is around 1%. So, the overlap between these two subsets of the population is going to be extremely small. That's why you don't see vegan bodybuilders everywhere - there just aren't many vegans around, and most aren't interested in posing in their speedos.

The fact of the matter is that most people, even those on an omni diet, should be supplementing. Our food these days is not as nutritous as it once was. You know why we don't get B12 in our diet? It's because B12 comes from the soil (it's also produced by bacteria in our gut), and we wash our produce quite well these days. Your meat products also wouldn't contain any B12 at all, but their feed is SUPPLEMENTED with B12. Why? Because they're not out in the fields eating what they're supposed to be eating.
>>
>>29600054
Its easier than planning meals,
B12 is only found in fortified foods since all our water is treated.
People always use the natural arguement against vegans, im surprised by your statement.
I just wanna eat plants mate.

>>
>>29600186
Vitamin C, in high enough doses, cures cancer. I know this, because that's how my mother's cancer was treated. Eating a plant-based diet lowers IGF-1 levels, which also helps reduce cancer. Vegans have lower all-cause mortality than any other diet on the planet. Eat plants, live a long time.

Forks Over Knives is a good place to start, if you haven't seen it.

Leafy greens have more iron than meat. Every leafy green on the planet. Want iron? Have some spinach, kale, chard, broccoli, beans... the list goes on an on. Want magnesium? Again, leafy greens come to the rescue. You could also eat almonds, bananas, sweet potatoes, or whole grains. Diet isn't difficult. Nature already solved this problem. Eat plants.
>>
>>29600292
Congratulations on not finishing the post. The B12 is not produced in the heart. The animal must ingest it, and it gets it by eating fortified feed.

No, not really. Historically veganism was only possible after the neolithic revolution and civilization itself. I see returning to it as reverting to a more civilized state that we've lost over time as a result of our gluttony and greed. Going back to "our roots" and becoming "one with nature" to me means degenerating into a hunter-gatherer lifestyle, not a farmer lifestyle.

what are her arguments for the similarities between hinduism and nazism? from a outsider's viewpoint I can't really say I see any surface similarities - one argues for the inherent superiority of certain races, the other says all people, animals, and living things are the same, of the same unifying connected soul
>>
>>29601074
She essentially bashes all "man-centered creeds" for claiming to be universalist but only in regards to humans, for example modern Christianity which has no rules against flesh-eating or cruelty towards animals, although she didn't necessarily believe that the founders of such religions (such as Jesus Christ) would have condoned it. Indeed, many sects of Gnostic Christianity, which was endorsed by the Third Reich, DO state that Jesus was a vegetarian.

She also notes that the most noble of creatures are slaughtered daily for the greed of the most ignoble of humans, and these "submen" as she calls them continue to increase unchecked, while the greatest of men dwindle in numbers. This was the point that stuck with me, because as a robot I feel disgust towards a great portion of humanity. Why should we continue to slaughter the healthiest of animals to feed the blood lust of the unhealthy masses?

>what are her arguments for the similarities between hinduism and nazism? from a outsider's viewpoint I can't really say I see any surface similarities - one argues for the inherent superiority of certain races, the other says all people, animals, and living things are the same, of the same unifying connected soul
Realize first of all that Hitler was a staunch vegetarian. National Socialism is about raising the general racial and cultural level of the whole populace. Can a folk that is not vegetarian be truly cultured? Hitler probably did not think so, and there are reasons to believe he would have outlawed meat-eating had the conditions been better, but he could not upset the food supply during the war. The Third Reich already outlawed vivisection.

>there is an undying stigma of veganism because it's mostly associated with progressive (regressive) leftists (not classical liberals) and the many varieties of cultural marxists/multiculturalists/sjw types who're smearing the entire left aisle of political ideology, much of which I disassociate with but do acknowledge there are distinctions within and everything isn't so simplistically left vs right
>there aren't many notable right-wing vegans/non kneejerk reactionary anti-vegans other than Matthew Scully, Charles Krauthammer and a few others to balance out the false belief that veganism, bioethics, environmentalism, healthy living and empathy is something that the left has a monopoly on
>you can't help but feel that the recent influx of vegan topics is connected to the increase in the lgbtq threads and that it's crossover from that crowd and not just Robots raising their consciousnesses
>no anti-islamic/anti-feministic/not racist against caucasians/non self-flagellating caucasian/dog loving veganfag bffs with whom to btfo carnistcucks

In previous years it was only once a week (if that) that there were vegan threads and they usually vanished with few replies or became infested with shit-flinging meatrolls.
Other boards occasionally have vegan threads, the most common being /ck/, which usually devolve instantaneously into the aforementioned shit-flinging.
The others that have surprisingly decent discussions on this topic are /his/lit/sci/.
I am pleasantly surprised that somebody above this comment had mentioned the connection between veganism, national socialism and also mentioned Savitri Devi.
Those were some of the things my other post alluded to where I wrote that most things are already said upon my arrival but a few things rarely (if ever) mentioned in these threads.
There are some many interesting things to be discussed in this topic alone, never mind the countless others and all the potential for overlap between any number of them.
I wish modern nazis weren't often idiots who don't even understand the origins of the name they take for themselves, same with modern christians, they seemingly lack the passion and enthusiasm for their beliefs that muslims and jews unfortunately have too much of and are mostly politically correct faggots and the only group of them I highly regard at all are the vegan and to a lesser extent vegetarian seventh day adventists.
Unfortunately few who take the bible seriously at all ever seem to realize the garden of eden and the original diet prescribed by god is undeniably vegan.

Lol who cares

Nazis are a bunch of niggers, your ideology is dead. 99% of modern vegans will complete hate on and bash Nazis. You're living in a meme.

I never claimed to be a nazi and am not one. I only lamented the fact that neo-nazis are disgraces to their predecessors as are modern feminists and modern american blacks, that's all.

Jew.

Reminder that Israel is one of the biggest meat-consumers on the planet, and that there can be no parley between Zionists and vegans.
