Seriously why did my little brother get all the Chad genes, while I got none? Everything, EVERYTHING goes right for him, and when it doesn't he gets "rewarded" somehow later anyway.
He had an hour with Rikki Sixx. Which I don't think he spent talking to her about the weather. Being this board I could have easily lied and tried to say that "my friends" paid for Rikki Sixx for me, but what's the point in pretending?
I feel like a mistake and that my brother is the better "Version 2.0" of what I was supposed to have been. And it keeps getting worse every day.
My brother and I are far too old to use the term "cool" in any sort of description when it come to either of us. I'll leave that to the younger generation.
And yet, there was always a striking difference between my brother and myself. I was the hard-working student who graduated valedictorian and won a full scholarship to university. He was the accomplished athlete. He was strong, handsome, well-liked, admired. I was weak, hated...and I can't imagine any person ever having envied me. Sure, I had to tutor him in order for him to even have the slightest hope of graduating. But whatever his relative deficiencies were, he wasn't stained by them.
The trend followed us into adulthood. He went on to join a SWAT team and find himself employed in a job he loves. I work for law-enforcement as well, albeit as a humble civil servant doing clerical work for peace officers.
Both my brother and I cause no small of despair for our mother because it's doubtful either of us will have children. In my brother's case, it's because he grows bored of women and leaps from one to the next. In my case, it's because women find me repulsive.
Now, this sort of thing is far from unheard of. Each child draws half his traits from each parent, but the way said combination is expressed can vary wildly.
The curious thing about the example of my brother and myself is that each of us was raised by a different parent. Subsequent to my parents' divorce, my brother was raised by my father, I was raised by my mother.
I don't place terribly much stock in this, of course. It would be mad to do so. And yet, there are rare moments when I wonder. Could it possibly be those men who are raised most strictly by the Eternal Feminine are the ones who are most passionately hated by it?
But, when all is said and done, that's a silly line of reasoning. In my more sober moments, I remember the only mother worthy of my resentment is Mother Nature.
My younger brother simply got better combination of genes, he turned out Chad I became robot. He is "nice" to me but I can't bear it, because I know he thinks I am beneath him.
