The way I see it (and I could be totally off base, I'm a skinny distance runner after all) there isn't as much pressure to have fat acceptance for men because it just doesn't matter as much. Women like chiselled abs and trim waists, sure, but fatness doesn't really have a huge impact on most of the things that make men attractive.
Lets take some hypothetical guy in his twenties. He's a big doughy guy that used to be a linebacker in HS - 6'3" 300lbs. He's fat but he could potentially have all these things going for him:

>stable, well-paying job

>wants to be a father
I don't think he'd have any trouble getting a girl, and I see skinny girls with big dudes all the time.
On the woman's side a couple things come into play.
One is that its less socially acceptable for a woman to be self-deprecating, or make/accept jokes at her own expense. Male social interaction is basically built around this and in the long run it makes it easier for people to accept their flaws. Even if a woman CAN handle the banter, it's not feminine for her to do so, and other women will shun her if she tries.
Two is that much more of a woman's attractiveness is based on looks, and because of One, their personalities often suffer on top of that as they have low self esteem and are desperate and clingy.

I think that if you're within your healthy weight bracket for your height but your body distributes most of your weight in your tits, thighs and ass nicely (NOT OVERWEIGHT AT ALL) then you're thick.
