I am not against immigration as a concept, it can be beneficial for many different reasons, and of course asylum should be granted to those who need it, however the massive virtually unchecked immigration that is occurring at the moment throughout a lot of europe has many disadvantages:
- successful immigration involves successful integration into the country that is accepting these people, however the massive numbers of immigrants inevitably leads to ghettos forming which leads to alienation of both migrants and natives, which in turn leads to conflict on both sides
- language skills are not checked for families coming over to the uk, this means you might have a father who speaks english, but his wife, parents and (as is the case with a lot of non-westerners) a generally high number of kids (3+) who do not speak english or speak it very little and likely won't be taking classes
- immigrants universally commit a disproportionately high amount of crime
- there is essentially no cultural 'training' for immigrants i.e. they don't understand how to behave in the uk
- massive influxes of people leads to massive strains on infrastructure/economics/services/land/resources etc. this is more pronounced in the uk as we're a relatively small nation
- there are many reports which state that very clearly not all people immigrating to the uk/europe are simply fleeing conflict as the media continually spouts; if they were would they not simply move to the nearest non-conflict country? there are many peaceful afircan/middle-eastern nations that are closer and open to these immigrants, however western europe seems to be the go-to place and it not our [western europe's] responsibility to bear the vast majority of these immigrants, especially given the above reasons
